KFORT MYERS, Fla.—Swarthmore College Softball split its Spring Break games on Tuesday, dropping the 9 a.m. game to Kenyon College 6-3 but then blasting Wilmington College (Ohio) 9-1 in five innings in the 11 a.m. game.
KENYON 6, SWARTHMORE 3
Kenyon scored four times in the top of the seventh to overtake Swarthmore and win the game. The Garnet had built a 3-2 lead by the end of the third thanks to two RBIs from
Marisa Mancini and a run she scored on an error.
Kenyon took the lead with a bases-loaded knock to centerfield in the top of the seventh that scored three runs.
SWARTHMORE 9, WILMINGTON 1 (5 IN)
Swarthmore rebounded with a resounding win over Wilmington. The Garnet scored six runs in the third inning with
Kennedy Kings,
Emilie Morse and
Gabriella Natoli all bringing home two runs. Natoli also doubled in the fifth inning to score two more runs, activating the eight-run run. A sac fly scored Natoli for an insurance run that proved important as Wilmington scored one run in the bottom of the fifth.
Marit Vike, Kings, Morse and Natoli all posted a pair of hits in the win.
Freshman
Lucy Decker earned the win in the circle, striking out two batters and walking none in five innings pitched.
