Volleyball Tops Dickinson in Season Finale

Bullets top Red Devils 3-1

CARLISLE, Pa. – Junior libero Caroline Sequeira (Millington, N.J./Watchung Hills) recorded 20 or more digs for the ninth consecutive match and Gettysburg College overcame an opening-set loss to close the regular season with a 3-1 victory at Dickinson College in Centennial Conference volleyball action on Saturday.

Dickinson (10-18, 2-8 CC) won the opening set 25-20, but Gettysburg (17-7, 5-5 CC) won the next three contests 25-14, 25-16, and 25-23. The Bullets ended the afternoon with a pair of emphatic kills on the outside by junior Kasey Higgins (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) and sophomore Allie Stranick (Havertown, Pa./Merion Mercy).

Sequeira closed out an impressive campaign as the team's back row defender, putting up 25 digs and serving up a pair of aces against the Red Devils. The junior set a new program standard for consecutive outings with 20 or more digs and averaged 6.4 per set in the month of October. Sequeira averaged a Centennial-best 5.71 digs this fall, which also ranks as the second-highest average in program history.

Stranick knocked down 17 kills to pace the Gettysburg attack. Higgins and freshman Jordyn Horowitz (East Brunswick, N.J./East Brunswick) each tallied eight kills, while junior Francesca Garison (Metuchen, N.J./John F. Kennedy Memorial) recorded seven kills. Freshman Sarah Ellis (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area) posted 24 assists and nine digs.

Emma Lange tallied 17 kills and Tatiana Lopez put up 12 digs for Dickinson.
