Box Score GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Gettysburg College women's tennis team saw its five-match winning streak come to an end with a 6-3 loss to Franklin & Marshall College at the Bullets Tennis Courts Wednesday.
 
Gettysburg (9-5, 4-2 CC) maintained a spot in the projected Centennial Conference playoff field despite the loss, holding onto fifth with four matches to play. The top five teams in the regular-season standings earn a spot in the postseason.
 
Seniors Maria Martinovic (Lawrence Township, N.J./Princeton Day School) and Maddie Class (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) gave Gettysburg its first point of the day with an 8-3 win over Alex D'Angelo and Emma Wu at No. 2 doubles. Franklin & Marshall (7-5, 5-2 CC) won the other two doubles bouts 8-3.
 
The Diplomats clinched the team victory by sweeping the top four singles positions in straight-sets. Despite dropping their opening sets by 6-4 scores, both junior Ava Vanhelfteren (Fort Wayne, Ind./Canterbury) and freshman Alexis Rinker (Prince Frederick, Md./Calvert) emerged with come-from-behind victories. Vanhelfteren won her final two sets at fifth singles 6-2 and 6-1, while Rinker came up with 6-2 and 6-3 wins to close out her match at No. 6.
 
Gettysburg travels to Bryn Mawr College Saturday. The match is set to start at 11 a.m.
