RICHMOND, Va. – The Washington College men's swim team captured the eight team Arena Yellow Jacket Invitational, hosted by Randolph-Macon, on Saturday and Sunday at the Collegiate School Aquatic Center. Senior
Gage Mandrell (Lititz, Pa./Manheim Township) had three individual victories and was part of three winning relays on the weekend.

Shoremen Individual Highlights
- Mandrell won the 200-yard freestyle (1:42.61), 200 backstroke (1:52.10) and 200 individual medley (1:54.03).

Bianti Danaj placed second in the 100 freestyle (46.94), 100 butterfly (50.36) and fourth in the 50 freestyle (21.37). Danaj is now second all-time at Washington in the 100 fly and improves his seventh place all-time spot at WC in the 100 free by .19 seconds.

Chase Hensen was second in the 100 breaststroke (57.42) and third in the 200 breaststroke (2:08.95).

Zach Affeldt was third in the 200 IM (1:58.25), fourth in the 100 breaststroke (59.17) and fifth in the 200 breaststroke (2:11.83).

Justin Fitzpatrick earned fourth in the 100 butterfly (51.33) and is now tied for sixth all-time at Washington in the 100 fly.

Justin Morris placed third in the 400 individual medley (4:17.39) and is now ninth all-time in team history in the event.

William Schmidt landed a fourth place finish in the 100 backstroke (54.36).

CJ Dunker garnered fourth in the 1650 freestyle with a time of 17:22.75.

Jack Poleto was fifth in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:55.34.
Shoremen Relay Highlights
- The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Mandrell, Danaj, Schmidt and Hensen won the event with a time of 1:25.04. Mandrell's leadoff time of 21.08 places him fourth all-time in program history in the 50 freestyle.
- The 400 medley relay squad of Mandrell, Hensen, Fitzpatrick and Danaj captured top spot with a time of 3:28.75. Mandrell moves up two spots to fourth all-time in the 100 backstroke leading off the relay with a time of 52.16.
- The 200 medley relay quartet of Schmidt, Hensen, Fitzpatrick and Danaj took first place in 1:35.65.
- The 800 freestyle relay team of Poleto, Affeldt, Morris and Mandrell grabbed the first place spot in 7:08.62.
- The 400 freestyle relay group of Mandrell, Danaj, Schmidt and Henson were second in 3:09.49.
Notes
- Washington won the event with 1,565 points, finishing 104.5 points ahead of Frostburg St. who had 1,460.5 for second place. Catholic was third with 1,385 points followed by host Randolph-Macon, who had 1066.5 points. Spots five through eight were St. Mary's (Md.) (773.5), Stevenson (585.5), Hampden-Sydney (385) and Virginia Wesleyan (249).
- Frostburg St. is a Division II school, the other seven schools competing are Division III.
