Men's Soccer Falls To Red Devils In Road Test

CARLISLE, Pa.—Swarthmore College Men's Soccer scored first in Saturday afternoon's conference opener on the road, but couldn't hold off Dickinson College's retaliation. The Dickinson Red Devils responded with four goals to take the game 4-1.

Swarthmore scored in the 10th minute. Yuheng Wang tracked down a pass in the left corner, gathered the ball and drove a strong cross to the opposite side of the box. Joey Bradley received the ball and snapped off a shot that pinged off the left post and across the goal line for his first tally of the season.

Swarthmore continued to have offensive opportunities throughout the game, racking up 17 total shots and eight on goal, but just could not get another shot to slip through the rest of the contest. Dickinson only had one more total and had 10 attempts on goal.

The Red Devils scored twice in the first half with goals in the 20th and 25th minutes. They added second-half goals in the 55th and 81st minutes as well.

Freshman Ian Withy-Berry recorded six saves in goal in the loss.

Swarthmore dips to 3-3 with the setback and Dickinson improves to a .500 record as well at 2-2-1 on the year.

Swarthmore returns home for a 4 p.m game on Wednesday with St. Mary's College of Maryland.
