LANCASTER, Pa.—Swarthmore College Men's College set a new program record on Monday afternoon at Bent Creek Country Club and Garnet sophomore
Nick DiMaio set a new program record for lowest round score.
DiMaio shot -4 to card a new program low of 67 on the 6,434-yard course. DiMaio took medalist honors, winning the tiebreak over Rutgers-Camden's Kevin Sarlo on a match of cards. DiMaio shot 31 on the back nine while Sarlo shot 34. The old record was 69, set by Jeff Wall and Andrew Park.
As a team, the Garnet shot 285, nine strokes less than their previous record set during the 2011-12 season. Swarthmore finished +1 as a team and took second place overall, trailing Rutgers-Camden by two strokes.
Two other Centennial Conference schools participated in the 17 team tournament. The Garnet topped Franklin & Marshall's A-team by nine strokes and Muhlenberg by 19. All four Garnet scorers finished in the top-20.
Vamsi Damerla shot par to finish tied for seventh overall.
Dan Altieri recorded a 73 (+2) and freshman
Adam Agustin was a stroke behind for his best round so far in his young career. Agustin had one rough hole to start the tournament but quickly recovered.
Michael Chen recorded a 79 for Swarthmore.
The Garnet wrap up a solid fall season on Saturday and Sunday at Wild Quail Golf Club.
