Women's Soccer Shuts Out Bryn Mawr for Third Straight Victory

Bethlehem, Pa.--- The Moravian College women's soccer team kept their winning streak going with a 2-0 win over Bryn Mawr College on Thursday afternoon.

The Greyhounds would find themselves on the attack and controlling the pace of the game, out- shooting the Owls 22-2. The first goal of the match was knocked in by junior midfielder/forward Melissa Pavia when junior midfielder/forward Brittany Nicoline placed a cross in the middle of the six yard box in the sixth minute.

"Our goal all week was to complete 90 minutes of play at the same intensity, and I think the girls came closer to that today. The ball pressure and ball movement was great, and the total team effort is getting there," commented Head Coach Jeff Ykoruk as the Hounds advance to 4-2 on the season.

In the second, half Pavia found senior forward Kirsten Schall in front of the net for the second goal of the match and her eight goal of the season. The Blue and Grey were relentless looking for more, having 11 different players with shots on net, but would have to settle for the final score of 2-0.

"Any time you can get a shutout, we are excited about it. Our ball pressure starting from up top allowed us to pin them in a little bit and deny them the ability to cross midfield. The ability to play multiple players in the back line kept people fresh and I thought the overall group did a really good job," said Ykoruk

Junior Jacqueline Zalis had one save for her second shutout and fourth win of the season.

The Greyhounds return to action on at the HUB Quad at 1:00 p.m. for a non-conference match against Delaware Valley College.
