Kate Wiseman took home two first-place finishes and also anchored a winning relay as the Swarthmore College women's swimming team topped Cabrini, 139-91, on Wednesday, Jan. 24 at Ware Pool.
Wiseman, who hit the wall at 2:03.74 in the 200-yard freestyle and at 56.25 seconds in the 100-yard freestyle, also anchored the 200-yard medley relay, which won with a time of 1:54.27. The group included sophomores Abby Byrne and
Erica Flor as well as freshman
Ashley Hwang. In addition, Byrne and Hwang notched second and third-place times of 2:21.48 and 2:23.77, respectively, in the 200-yard butterfly race, finishing behind senior
Supriya Davis's winning mark of 2:14.78.
Other notable races for the Garnet included freshmen
Diane Lee and Sydney Andersen's performances in the 1000-yard freestyle. In just the last 25 yards, Lee overtook and out-touched Andersen with a time of 11:32.09 to Andersen's 11:32.41. Lee also took second place in the 100-yard freestyle, hitting the wall at 57.08.
Next week, Swarthmore will return to Ware Pool to swim against Washington College on Wednesday, Jan. 28 at 6 p.m.
