TUCSON, Ariz. – The Concordia Wisconsin softball team finally opened spring break play on Monday. After travel issues delayed the start of spring break for the 16th-ranked Falcons, CUW improved to 6-0 on the year with a 3-2 victory over Coe and a 3-1 victory over Dickinson on Monday afternoon.

The Blue and White opened the day with a nine-inning affair against Coe.

The Kokawks tied the game on an error in the second inning.

The teams exchanged blows, but the defenses stood tall to force extra innings.

Coe took the lead in the eighth inning after the Kohawks capitalized on an error.

Sophomore Jasmine Freeze (Bolingbrook, Ill.) tied the game in the eighth inning on a sacrifice fly that scored sophomore Jess Pozezinski (Lake Villa, Ill.).

Junior Madi Wheat (Coweta, Okla.) won the game in the ninth inning with a shot to second base. Senior Ashley Zappa (Zion, Ill.) showed her speed and beat the throw to the plate to win the game.

Senior Gina Followell (Romeoville, Ill.) quieted the Kohawks and did not allow them to pick up their second ranked-victory of the season with eight strikeouts, zero walks and zero earned runs.
