The Short Story: The Johns Hopkins men's soccer team got a pair of goals from junior
Achim Younker en route to a 4-0 win over host Neumann on Tuesday night.
Â
How it Happened
• Hopkins didn't waste time getting on the scoreboard as Younker notched his first goal of the game in the 12
th minute. Sophomore
Connor Jacobs dribbled into the box and passed to Younker, who quickly turned and buried a left-footer.
• Younker then set up the second goal when he crossed the ball to sophomore
Nate Charendoff about eight yards out. Charendoff collected the pass and beat the goalie to the back post in the 36
th minute.
• Younker needed less time to score in the second half as he beat Knights' goalie Shane Smith just two minutes and 12 seconds in. Sophomore
Pablo Martinez took a pass from classmate
RJ Moore, drove to the end line and crossed the ball across the mouth of the goal. Knocked off balance, Younker redirected the ball into the goal to make it a three-goal game.
• Sophomore
Ben Bae capped the scoring in the 82
nd minute with his first goal of the season. After some nice tic-tac-toe passing between junior
Brent Thomas and freshman
Matthew Shneyderman, Thomas crossed to Bae, who tapped the ball in at the back post.
Â
