Blue Jays Down Eagles

Blue Jays Down Eagles

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata football team suffered a 77-0 loss at the hands of visiting Johns Hopkins, Saturday afternoon at Knox Stadium.

The Blue Jays stopped the Eagles on their opening drive and following an excellent punt from Noah Wright (Lewistown, Pa. / Mifflin County H.S.) that pinned the Blue Jays back on their own 14; they went the length of the field in four and half minutes to make it 7-0.

The JC offense stalled out, but the defense managed to pick them up. On the first Blue Jay offensive play, Michael Grapin (Springfield, Pa. / Springfield HS) managed to dislodge the ball, and Adam Grajewski (Export, Pa. / Franklin Regional) was the first to it. Juniata couldn't take advantage of the turnover, and the Blue Jays responded with another TD drive to double the deficit after one quarter.

The second quarter saw the Blue Jays put three more touchdowns on the board and missing a 43-yard field goal on another. The end of the half saw Johns Hopkins complete a long pass to the JC 12 and attempt a lateral. Noah Jack-Waters (Chesapeake, Va.) snagged the free ball out of the air and got to about the 30 before being wrestled to the ground to end the half with the score 35-0.

Johns Hopkins continued with 21-point quarters as they managed 21 points in the third and another 21 in the fourth to complete the scoreline.

Johns Hopkins's 759 yards is the most ever against a Juniata defense, and their 38 first downs are also the most ever.

Juniata returns to action next Saturday at Gettysburg. The kickoff is at 1:00.
