The Muhlenberg women's soccer team had to wait for lightning to clear to start its Friday night game at Delaware Valley. Then it unleashed some lightning of its own.
Behind two goals apiece from sophomores
Mia Mulin and
Isabel Schwartz, the Mules (2-0-1) won 5-0 in a game delayed by an hour and 20 minutes at the start.
Muhlenberg is undefeated through three games for the first time since starting 6-0-1 in 2014. It's the first time the Mules have opened the season with three straight shutouts since 1991, the first year in the program's history.
Mulin and Schwartz are the first pair of Muhlenberg players to score two goals in the same game since 2009.
Sophomore
Cortney Blake notched her first two career points by assisting on Mulin's goals, one midway through the first half and the other 1:50 into the second half. Schwartz
(pictured above) netted the next two goals to make it 4-0.
Freshman
Lindsay Scott capped the offensive outburst by heading in a cross from classmate
Bianca Capozzi with 10:28 to play.
Sophomore
Kayla Klarides was the third Mule goalie to see action in the game and the only one who needed to make a save. Muhlenberg outshot Delaware Valley, 20-3.
