ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. – The Gettysburg College men's golf team placed three finishers in the top-10 and the Bullets placed fourth among 12 teams at the Gettysburg Fall Invitational on Wednesday at the Hanover Country Club.
Junior
Danny Harcourt (Fanwood, N.J./Saint Peter's Prep) led Gettysburg, carding a 4-over 75 to place fourth in the field of 61. Freshman
Daniel Rieger (Collegeville, Pa./Methacton) fired a 77 to tie for sixth while two Bullets who competed as individuals – freshman
Jimmy Harcourt (Fanwood, N.J./Scotch Plains Fanwood) and sophomore
Ethan Murphy (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Trinity) also broke 80 while shooting their season-best rounds. Harcourt tied for eighth with a 78 while Murphy tied for 11th with a 79.
Freshmen
Quinn Greene (New Milford, Pa./Canterbury School) tied for 21st with an 83 while classmates
Matt Bornstein ( Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) and
Ben Ferris (Charlotte, N.C./Providence Day School) tied for 36th with an 87.
Dickinson and Messiah tied for first with a 319, but Dickinson claimed the team title on a tiebreaker of having the lower No. 5 golfer. Messiah's Bryce Watkins and McDaniel's Christian Garruppo also tied for medalist honors, and Watkins captured the title through a tiebreaker of shooting a lower back-9.
Gettysburg closes out the fall portion of its schedule Monday and Tuesday at the Randolph-Macon Ted Keller Memorial Tournament.
