GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Senior Ty Abdul-Karim (Washington, D.C./Woodberry Forest [Va.]) and freshman Nicholas Grissinger (Elizabethtown, Pa./Milton Hershey) posted one victory apiece, leading the Gettysburg College men's track and field team to a second-place showing among 15 teams at the Mason-Dixon Invitational, held Saturday at a sunny Musselman Stadium.

Competing in their lone home meet of the year, the Bullets scored 114 points and were just edged out for the team title by Penn State Harrisburg by just four points.

Abdul-Karim turned in an outstanding finish in the 100-meter dash. Competing in the second-fastest heat with only three competitors, he clocked a personal record (PR) of 11.10 seconds, which held up as the overall winning time in the field of 36. It was Abdul-Karim's second win of the season, and his time ranks him fourth in school history in the event.

Grissinger came out on top with a convincing victory in the 400-meter hurdles. With a PR of 57.44, he beat out his nearest competitor by nearly two seconds while also earning his second victory of the spring.

Junior Mike Miller (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) added a runner-up finish in the 10,000-meter run (34:47.58) while four Bullets captured third place: Abdul-Karim in the 200-meter dash (23.02), sophomore Ken Barnes (Edison, N.J./Westminster School [Conn.]) in the long jump (21-3 1/2), sophomore Nate Trinidad Doherty (Frederick, Md./Governor Thomas Johnson) in the javelin (152-3), and junior Joe Amadio (Pittsburgh, Pa./Keystone Oaks) in the triple jump (40-5 1/2).

Placing fourth was junior Matt Robinson (Taneytown, Md./Pinkerton Academy [N.H.]) in the mile (4:31.18) while classmate Alex Petrecca (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Warde) placed fifth in both the mile (4:31.92) and the 800-meter run (2:00.52).

Freshman Dylan McKeever (Furlong, Pa./Central Bucks East) contributed a sixth-place finish in the mile (4:37.98), as did junior Thad Cwiklinski (Glen Rock, Pa./York Catholic) in the 400-meter dash (51.95).

Several Bullets will compete at the Penn Relays on Thursday before the rest of the team travels will gear up for the Centennial Conference Championships with Shippensburg's Paul Kaiser Invitational next Saturday.
