Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Playoff Hopes Remain Alive For Men's Lax

CHESTERTOWN, Md.—Swarthmore College Men's Lacrosse stormed past the Washington College Shoremen 15-8 on Wednesday night to set the stage for a de facto play-in game for the Centennial Conference postseason.

Swarthmore, 3-4 in the Centennial this season, is tied with Washington and Haverford for the fourth and final spot in the playoffs. Swarthmore hosts Haverford on Saturday and because both of those teams have already beaten Washington, the winner will claim the final playoff seed.

Austin Chang collected five goals and an assist for his highest points total on the season. Chang is second on the team with 37 points and first in goals with 32 this year.

Freshman Mason Evarts netted a hat trick for the first time in his collegiate career.

Nathaniel Johns, Cam Marsh and Zander Levitz all tallied up a brace, and Jake Ross added a single.

The Garnet rolled with freshman Frankie Dillon in goal for the fourth consecutive contest and he tallied 11 saves in the win.

Swarthmore went ahead 6-2 in the first half, but only led 6-5 early in the third quarter after a Shoremen run.

Swarthmore out-scored Washington 4-3 in the third quarter, including a buzzer-beater from Marsh to end the period. The Garnet buffeted the Shoremen in the fourth, out-scoring them 5-1 to close out the contest.

The Garnet edged the Shoremen on the faceoff x 13-12.

Swarthmore also finished 2-for-3 on its EMOs.

Swarthmore's virtual play-in game with Haverford begins at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
