White, Brown homer as Jays close regular season at Gettysburg

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. — The Elizabethtown College softball team closed out the regular season Tuesday with a non-conference doubleheader at Gettysburg. The Bullets won both games by identical scores of 6-3. Jessica White and Kelsey brown each homered in game one while White had a team-high two RBIs in game two.

GAME ONE
Gettysburg 6, Elizabethtown 3

Elizabethtown (13-23) trailed after one inning 3-0, but put together a two-run second and one-run third to even the score at 3-3, doing so with the long ball.

Laura Tomasetti stood on first, and after taking two balls, Brown hit a one-out, two-run home run to cut the deficit to one. It was Brown's team-leading fourth homer of the season.

An inning later, White knocked a solo shot to right center on the first pitch of the at-bat to tie Brown for the team lead with four.

Gettysburg's (28-12) Lindsey Treanor would hold E-town scoreless from the fourth inning on. Aileen Reilly got her second save of the season, working the final one-and-one-third inning

Becky Becher, Keli Krause, White, Brown, and Tomasetti had a hit apiece for the Blue Jays in game one.

GAME TWO
Gettysburg 6, Elizabethtown 3

E-town again trailed in the early going as the Bullets brought home a pair of runs in the second inning to jump out 2-0.

Becky Becher led off the third with a single. Two outs later, Becher was on third and with White at the plate, scored on a passed ball to make it 2-1 Gettysburg.

The Bullets increased the lead with a four-run fourth that did the Blue Jays in. Despite recording just as many hits as Gettysburg (ten), E-town couldn't get the runs home.

Maeve McGill and Kirstin Blass each singled and were on second and third, respectively, in the seventh. Jessica White singled to center field, bringing both of them home for a two-out, two-RBI base hit. They were RBIs No. 25 and 26 for White on the season, most on the team.

McGill led Elizabethtown in game two, going 3-for-3 at the plate. White was 2-for-4, while Becher, Blass, Payton Marunich, and Laura Tomasetti each recorded a hit.

The softball team will now play in the Landmark Conference Tournament, facing top-seeded Susquehanna on Friday at 11 a.m. in Selinsgrove, Pa.
