Women's Lacrosse Playoff Preview

The Muhlenberg women's lacrosse team will host Haverford in a Centennial Conference first-round playoff game tomorrow at 5:00.

The Mules (9-6) are the fourth seed in the CC playoffs and will be hosting a postseason game for the first time ever. They tied the Fords (10-7) for fourth in the standings but earned the higher seed on the basis of their head-to-head win.

Muhlenberg is hoping to make more history by recording its first postseason win. In their previous three appearances, the Mules lost to McDaniel in the first round in 2008 and 2014 and to Gettysburg in the semifinals in 2009.

Haverford is also making its fourth CC playoff appearance, all in the last six years. The Fords defeated Dickinson in a 2010 first-round game before falling to Gettysburg in the semis. They also dropped a first-round game to Washington in 2011 and a semifinal contest to Franklin & Marshall in 2013.

The regular-season meeting was tied 6-6 with less than a minute to go in the first half before the Mules took off. They scored a goal with 41 seconds left, then reeled off the first six goals of the second half en route to a 19-10 win.

The winner of tomorrow's game travels to Gettysburg to take on the fourth-ranked Bullets in a semifinal game on Saturday at noon. The other semi matches second-seeded Franklin & Marshall against third-seeded Washington.
