The Muhlenberg softball team came back from two runs down to win the second game, 6-4, and earn a Centennial Conference doubleheader split on a frigid night at Dickinson.
The Mules (9-17, 3-7) trailed 2-0 after the first inning of the nightcap. They got one run back in the second when freshman
Sophie Chong singled with two outs and scored on an error, then took the lead with a four-run third.
Senior
Karissa Astrella led off the big inning with a double. After a single by junior
Kristina Qualben - one of her five hits on the day - and a walk loaded the bases, the tying run came in on an error. Chong
(pictured above) hit a two-run single to give Muhlenberg a 4-2 lead, and senior
Hanna Caiola capped the rally with an RBI single.
Qualben singled in an insurance run in the sixth.
Senior
Haley Fedak went the distance to earn her career-best seventh win of the season. She struck out only two, but one came with two runners in scoring position and one out in the third.Â
Fedak got two big outs in the sixth after the Red Devils (14-14, 3-7) loaded the bases with one out and worked a scoreless seventh, ending the game herself by catching a popup.
The first game was tied 1-1 before Dickinson erupted for eight runs in the bottom of the sixth. Qualben went 3-for-3 and knocked in the Mules' lone run with her first career triple, and Fedak added a pair of hits.
