GRANTHAM, Pa.- The Gettysburg women's track and field team competed in the Messiah Invitational at the Starry Athletic Complex on Saturday. Senior
Kathrin O'Brien (Lynchburg, VA. /Episcopal School) won for the second weekend in a row, this time in the 5k. She crossed the line almost a full 6 seconds ahead of the next competitor and with a new personal best in 18:54.16. Â Freshmen
May Berger (Bel Air, MD/ The John Carroll School) was the second Bullet to cross the 5k line in a time of 19:57.53 for a 10
th place spot.
Other top performers on the track include freshman
Emily Trout (Ocean View, Del./ Sussex Academy) in the 800 with a time of 2:28.68 for 9
th, junior Lilian Morrell (Fredrick, MD./ Urbana) Â took 3
rd in the 400 hurdles in 69.69 seconds, and the 4x400 team of
Emily O'Hara, Francesca Proto,
Emma Bernstein, and
Keara Skae for 10
th.
In the field sophmore
Holly Ferrara (Holland, PA./ Council Rock South) and senior
Katherine Mangione (Doylestown, PA./ Villa Joseph Marie) came in 5
th (33.79m) and 6
th (32.22m) respectively for the javelin throw. Mangione also competed in the discus where she placed 5
th with a throw of 32.98m followed up in 7
th place by senior Jessica Alessi (Schoharie, NY./ Ichabob Crane) with 31.38m. Â Senior
Anna Pienkos (North Haven, CT./ Scared Heart Academy )and sophomore
Alexa Schauder (Cedar Knolls, NJ./ Whippany Park.) tied for 9
th in the high jump with jumps of 1.41m. Schauder also grabbing a 9
th place finish in pole vault (2.75m).
Gettysburg Women finished 10
th out of 22 teams. The Bullets next competition is on Saturday, April 23
rd  when they host the Mason-Dixon Invitational.
