The Muhlenberg men's soccer team got off to a fast start but could not hold its lead and fell to Drew, 3-2 in double overtime, for its first loss of the season.
The Mules (3-1) scored just 37 seconds into the game when freshman
Christian Puccio sent a pass from the corner into the box. Freshman
Josh Bordwick played it back to junior
Jordan Cimring, who ripped a diagonal shot that found the inside of the far post. It was the first career goal for CimringÂ
(pictured above), and it was only the second first-minute goal for Muhlenberg since 2006.Â
Later in the half, junior
Kevin Hagan blasted in a one-hop shot from outside the box for his second goal of the season, making it 2-0.
The Rangers (4-2), who advanced to the NCAA "Sweet 16" last year, tied the game by scoring two goals in a span of 10 minutes in the second half.
Muhlenberg nearly pulled off a miracle win in the closing seconds of regulation when junior
Matthew Athanas-Linden took a desperation shot from long distance that pinged off the crossbar.
Drew scored the winning goal 86 seconds into the second overtime period.
