POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y.—Swarthmore College Men's Lacrosse made the long trip to Vassar College worth it on Saturday with an 11-9 win over the Brewers.
Swarthmore improved to 2-1 on the young season with the win.
Garnet sophomore
Austin Chang led everyone with four goals in the win, and scored the first three in the contest.
Jake Ross added his second hat trick of the season.
Zander Levitz tallied a pair of goals, and
Dylan Rittenhouse and
Cam Marsh each scored one.
Three Brewers players scored a pair of goals.
Chang achieved his hat trick one minute into the second quarter, giving Swarthmore the 3-0 lead. The Garnet led 6-1 with 7:38 to go in the second, but Vassar responded with a five-goal streak to tie the game with 6:32 left in the third quarter.
Swarthmore held an 8-7 lead entering the fourth following a pair of goals from Ross.
The Garnet scored the next three goals to start the fourth quarter and kept the Brewers far enough away.
Swarthmore dominated at the faceoff x, winning 17-of-21 attempts. Freshman
Ryan Izquierdo won 16 of those faceoffs.
Next up for Swarthmore is a home game against Delaware Valley at 3 p.m. Saturday.
