McCarthy hit .611 with 11 hits in 18 at-bats in a 5-0 week for the Blue Jays, scoring 10 runs and driving in six others. He had four doubles, stole a base, and posted an .833 slugging percentage and a 1.500 OPS. McCarthy had a four-hit game in the win over Bethel and three more in a win over St. Joseph's (L.I.).

Moore tossed a complete-game one-hitter in a 3-0 victory over Penn State-Schuylkill. He walked four and struck out 14 Nittany Lions in seven innings of work.


Around the Conference

It was a big week for Centennial coaches, as Johns Hopkins' Bob Babb won his 1,000th career game and Gettysburg's John Campo picked up victory #500. The Blue Jays defeated St. Joseph's (L.I.), 22-3, for the historic win. Babb is one of four active and nine overall NCAA Division III baseball coaches with 1,000 wins.

The Bullets (13-3), off to their best start since opening 14-2 in 2007, defeated Penn State-Berks, 6-1, in the nightcap, running their winning streak to 10.

Washington College junior OF Scott Matthews (Goshen, N.Y.) had three multi-hit and multi-RBI games in a 2-2 week for the Shoremen. He had a .789 slugging percentage with five doubles and a triple among his eight hits.

Ursinus senior OF Josh Schnell (Gilbertsville, Pa.) went 4-for-5 with six RBI in a win over Penn State-Berks. Freshman RHP Vince Piccioni (Haverford, Pa.) tossed eight innings of shutout ball for the win against Richard Stockton.

Swarthmore senior 1B Nicko Burnett (Anaheim, Calif.) hit home runs on consecutive days in Garnet wins over Cairn and Penn State Brandywine. Freshman RHP Aidan Miller (Baltimore, Md.) picked up his first collegiate win tossing five scoreless innings vs. Cairn. He allowed just one hit and fanned six.

McDaniel senior IF Marshall Betts (Berlin, Md.) had multi-hit games in all five contests last week with 11 safeties in 20 at-bats. He had three hits vs. St. Joseph's (L.I.) and drove in three more vs. Polytechnic. Classmate Michael Casper (Bridgeton, N.J.) twirled eight innings of shutout ball for the win vs. St. Joe's.

Johns Hopkins sophomore RHP Trevor Williams (Imperial, Pa.) picked up his first collegiate win, throwing seven innings of shutout ball vs. Fredonia. He fanned nine while scattering three hits.

Gettysburg senior OF Al Posch (Hopedale, Mass.) had a pair of three-hit games in wins over Mt. Aloysius and Penn State-Berks.

Dickinson first-year IF Ma Adams (Mount Olive, N.J.) went 3-for-4 with a homer and five RBI in the win over Lancaster Bible. Senior RHP Ryan Kramer (New Vernon, N.J.) and junior LHP Harley Moore (Deltaville, Va.) lead the Conference with 0.69 and 0.86 ERAs, respectively.
