Fishburn, Hejka Honored

Senior third baseman Wesley Fishburn was named the Centennial Conference Player of the week for the period ending April 16, as announced by the league office on Monday, April 17.

Fishburn had 10 hits in 14 at-bats for a .714 average in a 2-2 week for the Garnet. He was 3-for-3 with a stolen base and three runs scored in a 10-0 win vs. Muhlenberg. Fishburn did that one better in the 5-2 win vs. Franklin & Marshall, going 4-for-4 with two doubles, a run scored and an RBI. He also homered at Muhlenberg, finished with a 1.835 OPS on the week, scored six runs and stole two bases.

Since entering the lineup on March 30, Fishburn has a slash line of .528/.575/.750 with 19 hits, 11 runs and seven RBIs.

Johns Hopkins sophomore Josh Hejka has been named the Centennial Conference Pitcher of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.

Hejka picked up a win over 22nd-ranked Salisbury and a save against Haverford on the week. The sophomore pitched the final five innings against the Sea Gulls, tying his career high for innings pitched. Hejka struck out a career-high-tying five batters, did not walk a batter and gave up just three hits while holding Salisbury without a run.

Against the Fords, Hejka pitched the final three innings in the 11-7 victory. The submariner surrendered just one hit and struck out three Fords. Hejka totaled eight scoreless innings with eight strikeouts and no walks on the week.
