OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Cameron Ott, Susquehanna

Montoursville, PA / Montoursville Area HS
Ott had a career day in the River Hawks' 55-40 victory against Gettysburg. He carried 40 times for 184 yards and scored five touchdowns on runs of 2, 1, 2, 1 and 2 yards. The five rushing TDs set a Susquehanna single-game record.

Speak posted a career-high 16 tackles and added two sacks and a pass breakup in the Blue Jays' 30-24 win at Muhlenberg.


SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Spencer Wiersberg, McDaniel
Junior, Place-Kicker, 5-9, 190
Salisbury, MD / J.M. Bennett HS
Wiersberg booted a career-long 43-yard field goal as time expired to lift the Green Terror past Ursinus, 30-27. The win ended McDaniel's 22-game losing streak. Wiersberg was perfect on the afternoon, converting all three PATs and two other field goals from 26 and 25 yards. 

 

 

 

Dickinson / @WearinTheRedFB / The Devils fell to 0-4 with a 24-10 loss at Moravian. It is the first time that Dickinson has started a season with four straight losses since 1985. QB Billy Burger (Carlisle, PA / Carlisle) completed 24-of-38 passes for 288 yards – 135 on nine receptions by WR Jake Walbert (Sinking Spring, PA / Wilson). Burger tossed a 4-yard TD pass to TE Ryan McMahon (Holbrook, MA / Archbishop Williams) – his first career collegiate scoring catch. LB Tyler Heisey (Camp Hill, PA / Cumberland Valley) led the defense with 11 tackles, while DE Kevin Sherry (Swarthmore, PA / Strath Haven) had seven stops, including a sack.

 

 

Franklin & Marshall / @FandMFootball / The Diplomats improved to 3-1 with a 45-22 victory at Juniata. RBs Dave Shellhammer (Ringwood, NJ / Lakeland Regional) and Taalib Gerald (Egg Harbor Twp., NJ / Holy Spirit) combined for 289 rushing yards and five TDs. Shellhammer carried 21 times for a career-high 174 yards and two scores, while Gerald gained 115 on 19 totes and three TDs. QB Zach Bradley (Catasauqua, PA / Catasauqua) made his first start of the season and hit on 10-of-16 passes for 168 yards. WR Bobby Keyes (Huntingdon Valley, PA / Chestnut Hill Academy) snared four aerials for 107 yards. P/K Cody Hubbs (Howell, NJ / Howell) was 6-for-6 on PATs and booted a 32-yard field goal on his first attempt of the season. The Diplomat defense held the Eagles to just 65 rushing yards.

 

 

Gettysburg / @gburgbullets / The Bullets fell to 1-3 with a 55-40 loss at Susquehanna. Gettysburg racked up 484 yards of total offense, led by QB Justin Davidov (Ossining, NY / Ossining) who amassed 404 yards and scored six times. He completed 19-of-39 passes for 275 yards with four TDs, while also rushing for 129 yards and finding the end zone twice. Davidov is the first Bullet with 100 yards rushing and 200 passing since 2012. WB Matt McFadden (Morristown, NJ / Morristown Beard) posted 213 all-purpose yards, including 34 on a TD reception. LB Jake Skinner (Annapolis, MD / Broadneck) made a team-high 16 tackles. 

 

 

Johns Hopkins / @JHU_Football / The Blue Jays scored the final 13 points of the game to overcome Muhlenberg, 30-24. The victory extended JHU's regular-season (35), Centennial (31), September (27) and regular-season road (17) winning streaks. DB Jack Toner (Western Springs, IL / Benet Academy) had two interceptions in the end zone in the final minute, giving him 14 for his career. LB Garrett Spek (Apopka, FL / Apopka) had a career-high 16 tackles and a pair of sacks. Hopkins produced a 300-yard passer, 100-yard rusher and two, 100-yard receivers in the game for the first time since 2008 against the Mules. PK Jamie Sullivan (Lake Sherwood, CA / Oaks Christian) booted three FGs – the first time a Hop kicker has made three in a game since 2010.

 

 

Juniata / @JuniataFootball / The Eagles fell short of their first 4-0 start since 2002 with a 45-22 loss to Franklin & Marshall. WR Kirby Breault (Elizabethtown, PA / Elizabethtown) grabbed nine aerials for 130 yards and a touchdown for his fourth consecutive 100-yard effort. RB David Vidovic (Hohenfels, Germany / Hohenfels) led the ground game with 84 yards, while QB Hank Coyne (Royersford, PA / Spring-Ford) threw for 226 yards. P James Dougherty (York, PA / York Catholic) averaged 42.8 yards on four punts. DB Mitchell Shober (Stevens, PA / Cocalico) had a game-high 14 tackles. 

 

 

McDaniel / @McDanielFBall / The Green Terror ended a 22-game losing streak with a thrilling 30-27 victory against Ursinus. PK Spencer Wiersberg (Salisbury, MD / J.M. Bennett) connected on a 43-yard field goal as time expired for the win. It is the longest FG by a Terror kicker since 2006 when Jay Leonard beat Gettysburg at the horn on a 46-yarder. QB Will Koester (Purcellville, VA / Woodgrove) threw for a career-high 314 yards and two scores to WR Breon Herbert (Silver Spring, MD / Blake). RB Perry Stefanelli (Rockville, MD / Good Counsel) carried 20 times for 96 yards and had 186 all-purpose yards. Claude Richardson (Silver Spring, MD / Montgomery Blair) led the defense with 12 tackles and picked off a pass that led to the game-winning points. 

 

 

Moravian / @MoravianFB / The Greyhounds snapped a halftime tie with two TD passes from QB Mike Hayes (Philadelphia, PA/Chestnut Hill Academy) to down Dickinson, 24-10. DB Nick Zambelli (Allentown, PA / Parkland) made a pair of fourth-quarter interceptions in the end zone to preserve the win. Hayes completed 29-of-38 passes for 272 yards to surpass the 5,000-yard mark for his career (5,054). WR Liam Nolan (Ventnor City, NJ / Holy Spirit) caught seven balls for 107 yards and a score. RB Chris Negron (Allentown, PA/Freedom) posted his fourth 100-yard effort of the season with 104 yards. He is just 14 yards shy of the program career record. 

 

 

Muhlenberg / @DigInMules / The Mules dropped their first game of the season as Johns Hopkins held on for a 30-24 victory. QB Nick Palladino (Millstone Twp., NJ/Allentown) set a school record with his ninth 300-yard passing game, completing 30-of-51 tosses for 324 yards. WRs Ryan Delaney (Voorhees, NJ / Eastern Regional) and Nick Lamb (Philadelphia, PA / Penn Charter) became the first 'Berg teammates to reach double figures in receptions (10) in the same game. RB Nick Savant (Hellertown, PA / Saucon Valley) rushed 27 times for 146 yards and two scores for his third straight 100-yard effort. DB George DiFiore (Ardsley, NY / Ardsley) intercepted a pass and recovered a fumble for the defense, while DB Nate Corvil (Freehold, NJ / Freehold Twp.) picked off a pass for the third consecutive game. PK Todd Spirt (Dresher, PA / Upper Dublin) kicked his first career field goal from 28 yards out. 

 

 

Susquehanna / @SURiverHawksFB / The River Hawks evened their record at 2-2 with a 55-40 win against Gettysburg. The 55 points are the most by Susquehanna since tallying 56 vs. the Bullets in 2011. RB Cameron Ott (Montoursville, PA / Montoursville) set a school record with five rushing TDs among his 40 carries and 184 yards. QB Nick Crusco (Oak Ridge, NJ / Don Bosco Prep) threw for 206 yards and ran for 75 more in his first action of the season. WR Chris Beals (Downingtown, PA / Downingtown East) registered his second straight 100-yard game with nine catches for 139 yards and a score. LB Connor Thompson (Long Valley, NJ / West Morris Central) led the defense with 12 stops. PK Evan Argiriou (Kinnelon, NJ / Kinnelon) booted two field goals, including a 41-yarder. 

 

 

Ursinus / @UrsinusFootball / The Bears fell to 0-4 with a heart-breaking 30-27 loss at McDaniel. QB Sal Bello (Phoenixville, PA / Archbishop Carroll) completed 23-of-36 passes for 235 yards and two TDs in his first start of the season. WR Shawn Hackett (Swarthmore, PA / Ridley) grabbed seven passes for 92 yards. LB Tim Rafter (Springfield, PA / St. Joseph's Prep) became the 12th player in program history with 200 career tackles. Jonathan Gerhartz (East Brunswick, NJ / East Brunswick) returned a kick 94 yards for a touchdown – the Bears' first kick-six since Al Desiderio vs. the Terror in 2009. PK Nick Ford (Edgewater Park, NJ / Burlington City) booted a career-long 44-yard field goal.
