LANCASTER, Pa. – Jarius Ransom (Williamstown, N.J./Williamstown), a junior on the McDaniel football team, has been named the Centennial Conference (CC) Defensive of the Week for the week of Sept. 22.

Ransom led the Green Terror (2-2, 1-2 CC) to a 25-0 victory at Gettysburg on Saturday. He was the center of a complete team defensive effort with 10 tackles. He had 1.5 tackles for loss. As a unit, the defense limited the Bullets to 123 yards of total offense, including just 33 rushing, in McDaniel's first shutout since 2010.

For the season, Ransom leads the Green Terror with 37 tackles, including 6.5 for loss. He has recorded double-digit tackles in three straight games.

For the third time in his career, sophomore Michael Hnatkowsky of the Muhlenberg football team was named Centennial Conference player of the week.

Hnatkowsky was responsible for five touchdowns in the Mules' 62-7 Homecoming win against Juniata, passing for four and running for one. Playing only two series in the second half, he completed 23 of 27 passes for 278 yards.

The .852 completion percentage was the second-best in program history for a passer with at least 25 attempts.

The win kept Muhlenberg undefeated at 3-0 and improved Hnatkowsky's career record as starting quarterback to 9-2.

Hnatkowsky ranks third in the CC with his average of 247.0 passing yards per game and has thrown just one interception in 95 attempts. He is 168 yards away from 3,000 for his career.

Johns Hopkins freshman linebacker Robert Fletcher (Moorepark, CA/Oaks Christian) has been named the Centennial Conference Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance in Saturday's 62-14 win against Dickinson it was announced today.  This is the first time in his career that Fletcher has been honored by the Centennial.

Fletcher partially blocked a first-quarter Dickinson punt that led to a Johns Hopkins touchdown that extended the Blue Jay lead to 19-0.  Midway through the second quarter, he scooped a loose ball on a bad snap on a Red Devil punt attempt and raced 10 yards for a touchdown that extended the lead to 33-0.

This was not the first time Fletcher has made an impact on special teams in his young career.  In the first game of the season – and the first of Fletcher's career – he blocked a Randolph-Macon punt that the Blue Jays returned for a touchdown in what became a 63-31 Johns Hopkins victory.

One of two freshmen on the team to start all four games on defense for the Blue Jays, Fletcher ranks second on the team in overall tackles (25) and first in solo tackles (17).  He also has one tackle for loss, one pass breakup and one fumble recovery to go along with the two blocked punts.
