2018 Football Preview

LANCASTER, Pa. – August 16, 2018 – Nine-time defending Conference champion Johns Hopkins has been selected as the 2018 preseason favorite in a poll of head coaches and athletic communications directors.

The Blue Jays, who won their 13th Centennial title last year, received 14 of a possible 20 first-place ballots for 158 points to edge Franklin & Marshall, who shared the Conference championship with JHU last fall. The Diplomats garnered five first-place votes for 148 points while Muhlenberg picked up the other first to finish third in the poll with 133 points.

Susquehanna and Ursinus round out the first division with 113 and 104 points, respectively. Gettysburg (56) is the sixth choice, followed by Dickinson (51), Juniata (50), Moravian (49) and McDaniel (46).

The Centennial preseason poll has predicted the Conference champion in 18 of the last 20 years, including 10 in a row.
