Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week

Helped Washington College to a pair of shutout victories last week and clinched a spot in the 2014 Centennial Conference Tournament. In the 1-0 win versus McDaniel, she made a defensive save with 50 seconds left in the game to help preserve the lead and the shutout as the win clinched a spot in the conference tournament as the two teams were playing for the fifth and final spot. In Wednesday's 1-0 victory at Haverford, she helped the Shorewomen post a blanking of the Fords and ended an nine-game losing streak to Haverford.

Martin tied her career-high with three points in the game vs. Bryn Mawr on Wednesday. The defender also recorded a defensive save vs. the Owls which set a new career-high for defensive saves in a season (4) and puts her in a tie for second in the conference. In the Fords' impressive 2-1 win over McDaniel on Saturday, Martin was part of a unit that blocked five shots in the second half as Haverford recorded its third conference win of the season.

Porrini led a defensive effort that allowed only one goal in 150 minutes in a pair of wins and held Washington, which came in averaging nearly five goals in its previous five games, to one score. She also assisted on the game-winning goal in overtime.

Martin kept the Fords' deficit at one when she intercepted a sure breakaway chance for Muhlenberg in the 28th minute of Haverford's 2-1 loss on Wednesday. The Fords also held the Mules to no shots on goal in the second half. In the Fords' 3-0 win over Gettysburg, the defensive unit blocked three shots and held the Bullets' to two shots on goal.

In her return to the starting lineup, Zoey Atabek made her presence felt as she back-stopped Johns Hopkins to a 1-0 double overtime win over previously unbeaten Washington College. She made 13 saves while allowing no goals in her first shutout of the season and fourth of her career. Eight of her 13 saves came in the second period when Washington College outshot Hopkins, 10-4.

Davis anchored strong defensive efforts that led to shutouts in both games and just one goal allowed for the week. Davis also scored a pair of game-winners in a 3-0 week for the Red Devils. She scored on pair of penalty corners, both off assists from first-year Amber Dey (Flemington, N.J./South Hunterdon) in wins against unbeaten York College and #20-ranked Lynchburg.

Lenker had a 0.50 goals-against average and .923 save percentage in a 2-0 week for the Mules. She stopped five shots in a 3-1 upset of third-ranked Montclair State, a team that has scored 17 goals in its other three games this year, and recorded seven saves in shutting out Elizabethtown, 1-0.

In her first game as a goalkeeper, Robertson recorded a shutout in Washington's 2-0 win over Ithaca on Saturday afternoon. She made three saves in the game to achieve the whitewashing. Robertson was converted to goalie this season after being a field player for two seasons.
