• Records: JHU (17-2) • FMC (16-3)
• Location: Lancaster, PA • Tylus Field
• The Short Story: The 11th-ranked Johns Hopkins field hockey team beat host and top-seeded Franklin & Marshall, 3-1, in the shootout to win the program's first Centennial Conference Championship since 2003. The teams were tied 0-0 through 70 minutes of regulation and 20 minutes of overtime.

Quoting Coach Wells
• "The loss last week helped us refocus and find a new drive and energy. We had a really great week of practice and the team did a really great job of preparing for this weekend. F&M and Ursinus both played a really great game, kudos to all three goalkeepers who played outstanding."

• "The players have worked really hard and made a lot of adjustments both on the field and culturally, which helps us compete at the highest level. The strong leadership we have as well as great freshmen energy have really come together to help us this season."

How it Happened
• Both teams had numerous scoring opportunities but goalies Jodie Baris and Iliana Santagelo combined to turn them all away.
• Franklin & Marshall was awarded a penalty stroke with 5:40 to play in the second overtime, but Caitlin Morrissey's shot missed the cage.
• After two overtime periods, the title would be decided in a shootout. Hopkins went first with junior Katie McErlean converting her attempt. Lily Mynott then missed for the Diplomats as did senior Grace Hillman for the Blue Jays. Melissa Gula missed on F&M's next attempt and Hopkins was ahead 1-0 through two rounds.
• Freshman Abby Birk and Erin Coverdale each missed in round three and it was still 1-0 Blue Jays. Freshman Sarah Matyas converted in round four, as did the Dips' Courtney Kennedy. In the fifth and final round, sophomore Michaela Corvi backhanded her shot past Santangelo to give Hopkins a 3-1 lead and the title.

What it Means
• Hopkins wins its third Centennial Conference tournament championship and first since 2003. JHU also won two league titles before the tournament's inception in 2000. • This is the first Centennial Conference field hockey championship to be decided in a shootout.
• The Blue Jays avenge their regular season loss to the Diplomats and earn their 17th win of the season. The 17 wins tie the program record for wins in a season (1999, 2000). JHU improves to 24-15-1 all-time against F&M, including 9-9-1 in Lancaster.
• Hillman was named the Centennial Conference Tournament MVP. She is the first Blue Jay to earn the honor.
