Vachal '11 Performs On NBC's "The Voice"

LOS ANGELES—Swarthmore alumna Amy Vachal '11, who played varsity women's lacrosse and soccer, had her debut on NBC's singing competition "The Voice" air on Monday night.

Vachal played guitar and sang a rendition of "Dream a Little Dream of Me" for the four coaches. Blake Shelton, Pharrell Williams, and Gwen Stefani all pressed the button and turned their chairs to tell Vachal that they wanted to work with her within 20 seconds of her performance. The fourth coach, Adam Levine, said that he wished he could have selected Vachal, but his roster was full; however, he added that he thought she could win the entire competition. After the coaches made their pitch to Vachal, she ultimately decided to work with Pharrell.

Now that the blind-auditions are over, Vachal will be working with her new coach towards the goal of winning the grand prize of a recording contract. Vachal advances to the show's battle round stage and looks to advance into the knockouts, the live playoffs and then the live performance shows.

Amy's performance is available for purchase on the iTunes Store and was ranked as the 20th most popular pop song as of Tuesday morning.
