Week #4 - Players of the Week

Men's Cross Country

Eli Howard, Sr, Dickinson

Howard led the Red Devils with a second place finish in the 8k race of the Dickinson Long/Short Invitational, clocking a time of 25:55. The Red Devils won the team title for the 8k and finished second in the combined standings.

Women's Cross Country

Sofia Canning, So, Dickinson

Canning finished third in the 6k race at the Dickinson Long/Short Invitational on Saturday, posting a time of 22:41. The Red Devils claimed third in both races to capture their 10th combined team title at the event

 

Field Hockey

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Elizabeth Davis, Jr, M, Washington College

Scored three goals and added an assist for seven points in a 2-0 week for the Shorewomen. In the team's 4-2 win over Gettysburg on Friday night, she had two goals and an assist. She notched her assist on the game-winning goal to give WC a 3-2 lead with 7:15 left in the game and then scored the insurance goal with 4:49 remaining in the contest to give the Shorewomen a two-goal lead. She also scored the opening goal of the contest. On Sunday afternoon she scored the team's second goal of the game on a penalty stroke at the 56:57 mark to put Washington ahead by a pair.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Emma Rosenthal, Soph, GK, Muhlenberg

Rosenthal made five a career-high saves to record the shutout as Muhlenberg moved to 3-0 in the Centennial Conference for the first time since 2007 with a 1-0 win at Johns Hopkins. Two of her saves came just seconds apart in the second half with the Mules clinging to a one-goal lead.

 

Football

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Chris Negron, Moravian

Junior, Running Back, 5-8, 179

Allentown, Pa. / Freedom HS

Negron set a Conference single-game record by rushing for six touchdowns in the Greyhounds' 55-38 win at Dickinson. He carried 34 times for 221 yards - his fourth 200-yard performance - and tied the school record for TDs in a game that was held by three players from the 1930s. 

 

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Keonte Henson, Johns Hopkins

Sophomore, Defensive Line, 6-0, 230

Annapolis, Md. / Broadneck HS

Henson was the leader of a second-half defensive effort by Johns Hopkins that held Muhlenberg to just seven points and forced four turnovers in the 49-28 victory. He finished with eight tackles, including three for losses and two sacks, and added two forced fumbles.

 

CO-SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Matt McFadden, Gettysburg

Freshman, Kick Returner, 5-10, 175

Morristown, N.J. / Morristown Beard School

McFadden returned a punt 77 yards for a touchdown to highlight a 243-yard all-purpose running day in the Bullets' 49-30 win over Susquehanna. He hauled in three punts for 126 yards and also gained 106 more on three kickoff returns, including a 51-yarder to set up Gettysburg's first touchdown.

 

Eli Redmond, Moravian

Sophomore, Kick Returner, 5-7, 171

Laurys Station, Pa. / Parkland HS

Redmond returned the opening kickoff 98 yards for a touchdown in the Greyhounds' 55-38 win at Dickinson. He returned four kicks for 154 yards and amassed 225 all-purpose yards on the day.

 

Men's Soccer

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Brady Seitz, Sr, F, Haverford

Senior Brady Seitz led the Fords' offense during a perfect 2-0 week with three goals over the two matches. Seitz scored both goals in the Fords' 2-0 win over Stockton, a team receiving votes in the NSCAA Poll. Seitz also opened Haverford's scoring over the weekend with a goal just 5:30 into the match against McDaniel. Seitz now has four goals this season after the 2014 first-team All-Centennial Conference pick led the conference in scoring during the regular season a year ago.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Sam Miller, Jr, GK, Haverford

Junior Sam Miller recorded a pair of shutout victories to help the Fords improve to 5-3 overall (2-0 Centennial) on the season. Miller made four saves against Stockton, a team receiving votes in the NSCAA National Poll, and came back with three more saves against McDaniel. Miller now has three shutouts on the season with a 1.43 goals against average this season.

 

Women's Soccer

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Ali Lopez, Jr, F, Haverford

Junior Ali Lopez scored goals in both of the Fords' one-goal victories to help the team to a a perfect 2-0 week that improved the team's record to 6-0-1 on the season. Lopez scored the game-tying goal in the 20th minute against Lebanon Valley during an eventual 2-1 in extra time for the Fords. She scored the game's only goal against Stevenson in the 19th minute of play. Lopez is tied for the team lead with four goals on the season.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Emily Telford-Marx, Sr, D, Swarthmore

Telford-Marx anchored a backline that posted two shutouts last week and limited its opponents to five total shots with three coming on goal. Against Dickinson, which averaged 18 shots per game entering Saturday's contest, Telford-Marx paced the Garnet defense, which allowed one shot in the second half. Swarthmore is the only NCAA Division III woman's soccer team that has not conceded a goal during the 2015 season.

 

Volleyball

Ellie Ezekiel, Jr, OH, Franklin & Marshall

On the week Ezekiel had 54 kills with just eight errors on 118 swings, good for a .389 hitting percentage. She averaged 4.91 kills per set, and collected 24 digs, two service aces, and two block assists in a 3-0 week for the Diplomats. Against Muhlenberg on Wednesday, she had 28 kills and just one error on 54 attempts, a .500 hitting percentage.
