Muhlenberg's Long Selected for NCAA Division III Student Immersion Program

NCAA Student Immersion Program

Muhlenberg volleyball senior Alycia Long has been selected to participate in the 2021 NCAA Division III Student Immersion Program. The virtual program is slated for Jan. 13-15 as part of the NCAA Convention.

The NCAA Division III Student Immersion Program began in 2015 as a way to identify talented ethnic minority student-athletes interested in careers in college athletics, and to provide them with the needed skills to become successful coaches and administrators. The three-day event fully exposes participants to the ins and outs of Division III, its members, and its governing process. In addition to the scheduled Division III programming, grant recipients receive DiSC training, and attend welcome and debrief meetings.

Long is one of just 40 student-athletes nationwide chosen to take part in this program.

"I decided to apply to this program because I've developed a deep appreciation and passion for Division III athletics throughout my time at Muhlenberg," said Long. "I've enjoyed learning about how an athletic department is run and this program will help me learn more about athletics at a national scale, introduce potential job opportunities, and allow me to hear the experiences of others who have found successful careers in athletics. I also look forward to meeting other Division III student-athletes and for the opportunity to network and build relationships with peers who share similar interests."

"We are so excited for Alycia to have this opportunity with the NCAA," said Centennial Conference Executive Director Portia Hoeg. "She has expressed a lot of interest in college athletics and is very engaged in her campus athletics department. This is a great program and we are proud to have Alycia represent Muhlenberg College and the Centennial Conference."
