LANCASTER, Pa. -- Centennial Conference play began in baseball and softball last week as the 2022 spring campaign marches on. Centennial weekly awards were presented this week in baseball, softball, men's lacrosse, women's lacrosse, men's tennis, women's tennis, men's outdoor track & field, and women's outdoor track & field.
The Franklin & Marshall women's lacrosse duo of Ally Marino and Emily Kitchin swept CC weekly honors for the third consecutive week to once again headline this week's winners, while Johns Hopkins' Annie Gutierrez was also a repeat winner in women's outdoor track & field. Other award recipients included Andrew Mazzone of Dickinson baseball, Kieran Hollander of Ursinus baseball, Mackenzie Brennan of Ursinus softball, Meg Ozawa of Swarthmore softball, Owen Porter of Dickinson men's lacrosse, Scott MacMillan of Gettysburg men's lacrosse, Andreas Wingert of Haverford men's tennis, Nathalie Williams of Swarthmore women's tennis, Kevin Sommer of Hopkins men's track & field, Jack Rodenberger of F&M men's track & field, and Adria Retter of Swarthmore women's track & field.

Baseball
Player of the Week
Andrew Mazzone, Jr., INF, Dickinson
Belmont, Mass. | Phillips Academy Andover
Mazzone had a huge week hitting .500 (9-18), while slugging 1.111 and posting a .550 on-base percentage in a 2-2 week for the Red Devils. He recorded at least one hit in every game, headlined by a 5-for-5, three-homer, seven-RBI performance against Neumann last Wednesday. He also added a triple in Dickinson's 18-15 victory. Mazzone tied the conference record for the most home runs in a single game, becoming the 14th player in Centennial history to accomplish that feat.
Baseball
Pitcher of the Week
Kieran Hollander, Fr., LHP, Ursinus
Cranford, N.J. | Seton Hall Prep
Hollander earned the win in game two of a doubleheader at Johns Hopkins on Saturday to give the Bears a series split. The freshman southpaw struck out four and carried a no-hitter into the fifth inning, ultimately allowing two runs on five hits in 7.2 innings of work. Hollander also tossed 1.1 innings of scoreless work against Rutgers-Camden earlier in the week.
Softball
Player of the Week
Mackenzie Brennan, Sr., OF, Ursinus
Northfield, N.J. | Mainland Regional
Brennan paced the Ursinus offense with multi-hit games in all five games she appeared in during a 5-1 week for the Bears. She hit a sizzling .611 from the plate (11-of-18) with two doubles, two triples, a .667 on-base percentage and .944 slugging percentage along with nine runs scored and five RBIs. She also went a perfect 8-of-8 in stolen base attempts in the five games she appeared in. Brennan went 3-of-4 from the plate in game one against Elizabethtown and delivered the go-ahead two-run single in the sixth inning. In game two against Gettysburg, she swiped three bases and went 2-of-3 from the plate with one RBI and two runs scored in a 7-4 win.
Softball
Pitcher of the Week
Meg Ozawa, Jr., LHP, Swarthmore
Scarsdale, N.Y. | Scarsdale
Ozawa secured two of Swarthmore's four wins on the mound last week. The lefthander allowed just one hit across 9.1 scoreless innings, earning wins against both Penn State Brandywine and Franklin & Marshall. In Thursday's 6-4 victory over Penn State Brandywine, Ozawa started the game by striking out seven of the first nine batters. After exiting the game following a shutout first four innings, the junior re-entered the game in the top of the sixth to get the final out to secure the win, allowing no hits while striking out eight and walking one in 4.1 innings. Against F&M, the lefty posted a five-inning complete-game outing, allowing just one hit and striking out five.

Offensive Player of the Week
Owen Porter, Fr., A, Dickinson
Hanover, Mass. | Boston College
Porter helped the 10th-ranked Red Devils to stay undefeated on the season with a pair of conference wins over McDaniel (22-3) and Haverford (20-8). He picked up 11 points thanks to seven goals and four helpers on 14 shots (nine on goal). Porter also did work on the defensive end tracking down four loose balls and forcing one turnover.

Defensive Player of the Week
Scott MacMillan, Sr., GK, Gettysburg
Berwyn, Pa. | Conestoga
MacMillan posted a goals against average of 5.00 and save percentage of 68.8% as the Bullets knocked off a pair of Centennial foes last week. In a 10-6 win over No. 9 Franklin & Marshall, the senior goalie racked up 13 saves as the Bullets held the high-scoring Diplomats nine goals below their season average. MacMillan added nine saves while allowing just four goals in an 11-4 win over Washington as No. 13 Gettysburg improved to 3-0 in conference play this season.

Offensive Player of the Week
Ally Marino, Sr., A, Franklin & Marshall
Malvern, Pa. | Episcopal Academy
Marino earns Offensive Player of the Week for the third consecutive week with 10 goals and an assist in victories over No. 2 Salisbury and Swarthmore. The senior attacker opened the week with four goals in a 16-10 road win over second-ranked and defending national champion Salisbury. Marino then punched in six more goals, including her 100th career tally, along with one assist in a 16-4 Centennial win against Swarthmore. She finished the week 2-for-2 on free position attempts while also winning three draw controls and causing a pair of turnovers.

Defensive Player of the Week
Emily Kitchin, Sr., GK, Franklin & Marshall
Morristown, N.J. | Morristown-Beard School
Kitchin collects Defensive Player of the Week accolades for the third straight time after another pair of stellar performances in wins over No. 2 Salisbury and Swarthmore. Against the defending national champion Sea Gulls, Kitchin put together a 15-save effort and held Salisbury to its third-lowest goal output of the year in a 16-10 road win. The senior backstop then stopped eight Swarthmore shots on Saturday, allowing just four goals in the process. Kitchin rolled to a 7.32 GAA and 62.2% save percentage during the 2-0 week.

Player of the Week
Andreas Wingert, Fr., Haverford
Hummelstown, Pa. | Hershey
Wingert recorded the match-clinching point in Haverford's 5-4 victory over No. 12 Johns Hopkins on Saturday, handing the Blue Jays their first Centennial Conference loss in six years. After losing the first set to Hopkins' Rohan Reddy at No. 2 singles, Wingert rallied for a 3-6, 7-5, 6-3 victory to snap the Blue Jays' 41-match winning streak in CC play. It marked Haverford's first win over JHU since the 2006 season.

Player of the Week
Nathalie Williams, Fr., Swarthmore
Greenwich, Conn. | Greenwich
Williams went 1-0 at No. 2 singles and 2-0 at No. 1 doubles as the Garnet picked up Centennial victories over Haverford and Franklin & Marshall. At No. 2 singles against Haverford, Williams posted a 6-3, 6-3 victory. At No. 1 doubles, Williams teamed with Crystal Xu for identical 8-2 victories against both the Fords and Diplomats.
Men's Outdoor Track & Field
Track Athlete of the Week
Kevin Sommer, Jr., Johns Hopkins
Califon, N.J. | Voorhees
Sommer ran his way into fifth place in Division III in the 400-meter hurdles on Friday at the Towson Invitational. Sommer posted a top-five time in program history, placing second at the event with a time of 54.41. His time is tops in the Centennial this season.

Field Athlete of the Week
Jack Rodenberger, Sr., Franklin & Marshall
Lititz, Pa. | Manheim Township
Rodenberger posted the 16th-best javelin throw in the nation at the Millersville Metrics last weekend. Rodenberger's toss of 56.83 meters ranks atop the Centennial by 1.8 meters and placed him third at the meet, behind only two Division II opponents.

Track Athlete of the Week
Annie Gutierrez, Gr., Johns Hopkins
Coral Gables, Fla. | Ransom Everglades
One week after earning Field Athlete of the Week honors, Gutierrez displayed her versatility with a top-10 mark in the 100 hurdles at the Towson Invitational to earn Track Athlete of the Week honors. Gutierrez once against broke her own school record in the 100 hurdles with a time of 14.57, which ranks ninth in Division III and first in the conference this spring.

Field Athlete of the Week
Adria Retter, Jr., Swarthmore
Quakertown, Pa. | Quakertown
Retter recorded two top-10 national marks and three marks that rank among the top-10 in Centennial history in the discus, shot put and hammer throw last weekend. Retter recorded the top discus throw in the nation and the third-best mark in CC history at 46.03 meters. Her shot put of 13.69 meters ranks sixth in Division III and second all-time in conference history, while her hammer throw of 40.76 meters is 10th on the conference all-time list.
