Around the Conference
McDaniel handed #10 Franklin & Marshall its first loss of the season, downing the Diplomats, 59-58, in Westminster. Junior Cameron Royster (Derwood, Md.) recorded a career-best 17 points as the Green Terror knocked off a ranked team for the first time since 2011. The No. 10 ranking for F&M matched the highest ranking of a team defeated by McDaniel. Classmate Wes Brooks (North Wales, Pa.) drained all four three-point shots in the 75-57 win over Swarthmore.
Johns Hopkins extended its win streak to 10 games with victories over Dickinson and Ursinus. It is Hop's longest win streak since the 1993-94 season. Senior George Bugarinovic (Overland Park, Kan.) registered a double-double with 14 points and 10 caroms vs. the #4 Red Devils - the highest-ranked team the Jays have beaten since a win against No. 4 Catholic in 2003. Junior Austin Vasiliadis (Great Falls, Va.) handed out five assists and swiped a career-best six steals.
Gettysburg junior Kevin Gladstone (Havertown, Pa.) shot 13-of-18 from the floor and finished with 31 points in the Bullets' win over Haverford. It is the most points by a Gettysburg player since Andrew Powers '11 tallied 32 vs. Salem State on March 7, 2008. It is also the first 30-point game by a Bullet since Powers dropped 30 against the Fords on Jan. 22, 2011. The Orange and Blue shot a season-best 59.3 percent from the field vs. Haverford. Sophomore Cody Kiefer (Gettysburg, Pa.) tossed in a season-best 15 points vs. Swarthmore.
Dickinson rebounded from a loss to Johns Hopkins with a convincing win against Haverford. Senior Gerry Wixted (Moorestown, N.J.) had 17 points and 11 rebounds vs. the Blue Jays.
Haverford sophomore Matt Sherman (Narberth, Pa.) extended his double-figure scoring streak to six in losses to Gettysburg and Dickinson. He has 11 games of 10 or more points to his credit this season.
Muhlenberg senior Malique Killing (Philadelphia, Pa.) needs 13 more points to become the school's career scoring leader. He currently has 1,776 points and would surpass Bob McClure '71 who tallied 1,788 from 1968-71. Killing is also eight steals away from becoming the Mules' career leader in that category.
Swarthmore freshman Zack Yonda (Conestoga, Pa.) has scored in double figures in 12 consecutive games and is second to Franklin & Marshall's Brandon Federici (Morganville, N.J.) among freshman scorers at 12.8 ppg. Teammate Robbie Walsh (Summit, N.J.) tops the rookie rebounding chart at 5.9 per outing.
Ursinus extended its home win streak to four with an 83-68 win over Washington College. Junior Malik Draper (Scranton, Pa.) scored 22 points and added 14 rebounds as the Bears shot 56.1 percent from the field.
The Shoremen honored their 1989-90 Final Four team and pulled out a thrilling 77-76 victory over Muhlenberg last Saturday. Junior Dave Knox (Warrington, Pa.) posted a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds.
Looking Ahead
