Swarthmore Selected to Host NCAA Opening Rounds

SWARTHMORE, Pa.—No. 6 Swarthmore College Men's Basketball, after winning its second ever Centennial Conference Championship, is back in the NCAA Tournament for the third year in a row and the third time in program history. Swarthmore will be hosting two games in Tarble Pavilion on Friday with the winners of those games meeting on Saturday night.

Swarthmore, 24-3 overall this season, opens the NCAA Tournament on Friday against the Mitchell College Mariners. The Mariners won the New England Collegiate Conference Championship and went 19-9 overall this season. Three Mariners average more than 10 points a game with senior Domenico Santiago leading the way with 17.1 points per game.

The other game on Friday features No. 7 MIT versus Skidmore College. MIT went 22-4 but was bounced out of the NEWMAC conference tournament in the semifinals. Senior Bradley Jomard leads the Engineers with 18.5 points per game. Skidmore went 19-7 on the year and won the Liberty League Championship. Sophomore guard Noah Meren paces the Thoroughbreds with 21.2 ppg.
