Reed Barbe, Tim Brady, Gettysburg
Junior attackman Reed Barbe (Greenwich, Conn./Suffield Academy) and sophomore goalie Tim Brady (Charlotte, N.C./Providence) of the sixth-ranked Gettysburg College men's lacrosse team have swept the Centennial Conference (CC) Player of the Week awards, it was announced Monday.
Barbe scored one goal and handed out seven assists in a 2-0 week. He dished out a career-high four assists in a 9-4 victory at Dickinson College this past Wednesday, then followed up with one goal and three helpers in an 11-6 win over 16th-ranked Ursinus College on Saturday.
For the season, Barbe is tied for the team lead and is tied for fifth among the Centennial Conference leaders with 14 assists, and he has also scored nine goals.
Brady turned in a 5.00 goals-against average and a 73.0 save percentage last week, turning aside 27 of 37 shots. He made 13 saves in the win over Dickinson, then stopped 14 shots versus Ursinus. He helped set the tone versus the Bears by making five saves in the first quarter, when Ursinus outshot Gettysburg 11-7. Brady also picked up four ground balls against Ursinus as the Bullets held the Bears to their lowest scoring output (tied) of the season.
For the season, Brady leads the Centennial Conference in both goals-against average (6.26) and save percentage (62.1). He has been the goalie of record in every game and has backstopped a defense that has yielded just four goals per game in five conference outings.
