Junior Drew Carneal anchored a solid defensive effort as the #12-ranked Red Devils posted their third shutout of the season, holding Alvernia to just six shots on Saturday night. He added a goal in the 18th minute, re-directing a header into the goal on a corner kick.
Junior Chris Scott played an instrumental part in helping the Franklin & Marshall defense to its fifth straight shutout in Friday's 0-0 2OT tie with Elizabethtown. Scott and the F&M backline limited the Blue Jays to eight shots and just one corner in the contest.
Gettysburg senior Brooks Taylor scored the Bullets' only goal in a 5-1 loss to No. 1 Messiah.
Muhlenberg senior Jeff Reinhart, who entered the game with one career goal, scored the first two goals in a 4-0 win at Moravian.
Sophomore Alec McLean contributed on both sides of the ball to lead the Garnet to a perfect 2-0 week. He most notably scored the game-winning goal and anchored a defense which posted a shutout while yielding just three shots in a 1-0 win over Widener. McClean also anchored a defense which gave up just one goal in a 3-1 road win over Nazareth. Geoff Stewart helped the Garnet on the offensive side, most notably setting up the game-winning goal on a corner kick in the win over Widener.
Ursinus sophomore Ryan Butler scored a goal in win over Rosemont, while junior goalkeeper Ryan Murphy earned the 3-0 shutout.
Washington College freshman Chris Lewandowski scored his first two collegiate goals in a 2-0 victory over Gwynedd-Mercy on September 14. He scored his two goals exactly two minutes early in the second half to give Washington a 4-1 record through its first five matches. The 4-1 start is the team's best start since 2006.
