The 24th annual Centennial Conference men's swimming championships will be held this Friday through Sunday at Franklin & Marshall College.
Gettysburg won the dual-meet title and looks its seventh consecutive team championship. The dual-meet winner has captured the Centennial title on 17 occasions in 23 years. Swarthmore will be the Bullets' main challenger to an eighth straight crown. The Garnet dropped its dual-meet with Gettysburg by just eight points, falling in the final relay.

Friday
500 Freestyle: Gettysburg freshman Ogden Leyens (Fort Washington, PA / Upper Dublin) already has a "B" cut in 4:33.68 and is the prohibitive favorite. Ursinus' Jake Menzer (Newark, DE / Delaware Military Academy) and Marcus Wagner (Shavertown, PA / Dallas), along with Gettysburg's Josh Parker (Millington, NJ / Watchung Hills) will also contend for a medal.
200 Individual Medley: Swarthmore's Jeff Tse (Ellicott City, MD / Centennial) holds the top time in 1:54.74. Gettysburg's Adam Dias (Wilmington, DE / Charter School of Wilmington) and Swarthmore's Liam Fitzstevens (Rochester, NY / Wilson Magnet) will challenge him for gold, while Franklin & Marshall's Eric Lang (Woodstock, MD / McDonogh School) and Dickinson's Ben Shapiro (Wynnewood, PA / Friends Central) could also medal.
50 Free: Gettysburg junior Ty Dougherty (West Chester, PA / Salesianum School, DE) is one of the top sprinters in Division III and already has a "B" cut in 20.36. Teammate Francisco Nieves (Alexandria, VA / Edison) will battle Swarthmore's Andrew Steele (Katy, TX / Seven Lakes) for medals, along with Washington College's Cody Weiler (Boyertown, PA / Boyertown).

Saturday
400 Individual Medley: Another Gettysburg-Swarthmore showdown. The Garnet's Michael Lutzker (Walnut Creek, CA / Las Lomas) has the CC's top time in 4:14.56, while the Bullets' Parker has a 4:14.97 to his credit. Franklin & Marshall's Jack Sinton (Towson, MD / Loyola Blakefield), Washington College's Brendan Jones (Severna Park, MD / Severna Park) and Swat's Fitzstevens will also contend.
100 Butterfly: This event has always been a stronghold for the Garnet and 2017 should be no exception with Steele (51.03) and Tse (51.22). F&M's Eric Deitrich-Peterson (Douglassville, PA / Clearing House) has a 50.79 and could break up a potential Swat sweep.
200 Freestyle: Gettysburg's Leyens (1:39.37) has a "B" cut and the top time in the Conference by over four seconds. Gettysburg's Parker Sorenson (Evergreen, CO / Home School), and Ursinus' Menzer and Casey Lear (Lancaster, PA / Hempfield) will factor.
100 Breaststroke: Dougherty is the prohibitive favorite with a "B" cut time of 56.17. Dias, McDaniel's Justin Allen (Ashburn, VA / Broad Run) and Swarthmore's Alejandro Hernandez (Leonia, NJ / Leonia) will also contend for a spot on the medal stand.
100 Backstroke: Swarthmore could post a 1-2 finish as Tse (50.47) and Fitzstevens (51.95) have the two fastest times. They will receive challenges from Ursinus' William Benn (Summit, NJ / Summit), Gettysburg's Jeff Ragatz (Brookfield, CT / Brookfield) and McDaniel's Paul Van Nevel (Gaithersburg, MD / Poolesville).
Liam Fitzstevens, Swarthmore
Sunday
1650 Freestyle: This could be a 1-2 for Gettysburg behind Parker, the CC record-holder in the 1,000, and Leyens. Ursinus' Menzer and Wagner, along with Washington College's Pat Elliott (Media, PA / Salesianum School, DE) will contend for medals.
200 Backstroke: Fitzstevens (1:51.57) and Benn (1:51.74) will battle for the top spot on the podium, while Ragatz, teammate Jakob Hegna (Brielle, NJ / Manasquan) and F&M's Timothy Gould (Darien, CT / Darien) will also contend.
100 Freestyle: Could the Bullets' go 1-2-3? Dougherty (44.97), Leyens (45.54) and Nieves (47.19) could sweep the event, but College's Kevin Mackenzie (Silver Spring, MD / St. John's College HS) and Aidan Sullivan (Midlothian, VA / Trinity Episcopal School) will look to break up the trio.
200 Breaststroke: Dias (2:05.65) and Tse (2:06.79) will battle Dickinson's Sam Eaton (Port Matilda, PA / State College) for the gold.
200 Butterfly: It's a wide-open race among Dickinson's Kiernan Jordan (Dumfries, VA / Forest Park), Ursinus' James Callaghan (Staten Island, NY / Msgr. Farrell) and Johnny Myers (Menlo Park, CA / Sacred Heart Prep), Gettysburg's Jack Freeman (Haddonfield, NJ / Pennington School) and F&M's Sinton.
