Muhlenberg senior Jaryd Flank opened the season by finishing first at the Lehigh Invitational. He beat the second-place finisher, an unattached runner, by more than seven seconds, and was 32 seconds ahead of the next collegiate runner. Flank has finished in the top five in every race except the NCAA Championships since the start of the 2015 season.

Johns Hopkins junior Louis Levine won the Baltimore Metro Invitational for the second straight year, as the first of seven Blue Jays to cross the line before a runner of another school finished.
