Muhlenberg's Rathbun Leaving for Trinity (Conn.)

After three seasons at the helm of the Muhlenberg softball program, head coach Molly Rathbun departs Allentown to become head coach at Trinity College in Hartford, Conn.

"I am beyond grateful for the three years I was able to spend at Muhlenberg," said Rathbun. "Muhlenberg will always have a special place in my heart; the student-athletes, my co-workers and the community as a whole have been nothing short of amazing and all have positively impacted me in one way or another.

"I am so proud of this program and the strides that were made in the last few seasons," she continued. "There are great things in store for the Muhlenberg softball program and the young women who are a part of it."

Rathbun enjoyed her most successful season in 2019 highlighted by an 18-6 start, the program's best since 2013. She leaves the program in good hands after starting five freshmen last season, including the program's all-time leader in strikeouts by a freshman and the 2019 Centennial Conference defender of the year.

Over the course of her Muhlenberg career, she coached the Mules to 44 wins and six different players to All-CC recognition.

Rathbun, who returns to her native Connecticut, stated "It was a tough decision for me, but ultimately being closer to my family is something I just couldn't pass on."

Prior to Muhlenberg, Rathbun was a four-time All-America pitcher at Eastern Connecticut State with assistant coaching stops at her alma mater and Springfield College.

Muhlenberg - whose five CC titles are tied for the second most all-time - will open a national search to fill the vacant head softball coach position.
