Lytle Earns Fourth Weekly Honor This Season

Senior Katie Lytle led Swarthmore to a 97-80 road victory over Cal Tech by racking up 22 points on efficient shooting from the field as well as 24 rebounds, which matched a Centennial Conference single-game record. Lytle also recorded her 41st career double-double before halftime by accumulating 12 points and 15 boards over the first 20 minutes of play. She also contributed three assists, three steals and two blocks in the game while shooting an efficient 58.8 percent from the field (10-for-17) and a perfect 2-for-2 from the line.

 

 

 

 

Notes:

Johns Hopkins junior Maggie Fruehan shot 80% from the floor while averaging 15.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.0 assists, and 1.0 steals in two games to help Hopkins go 1-1 the past week. In the team's 67-58 victory over Eastern Mennonite, Fruehan finished 6-7 from the field and 1-1 from the free throw line totaling 13 points. Against #10 Emory on January 4th, she had a team-high and career-high 18 points and finished a perfect 6-6 from the charity stripe.

Senior Caroline Murphy led the Bullets to a 60-58 non-conference win over Shenandoah on Jan. 4. The senior forward turned in 12 of her team-high 18 points in the second period as the Bullets held off a rally by the Hornets. Murphy also set a personal mark with five blocked shots and recorded two assists, two steals, and four rebounds.

McDaniel junior Steph Perez was key part of 58-56 win at Washington Adventist, contributing 10 points, which includes hitting half-court buzzer beater to end first half, capping a run that turned a nine-point deficit into a six-point lead.

Ursinus freshman Libby Lannon scored 13 in the loss at DeSales.

Franklin & Marshall senior Kristina McCarthy notched three double-doubles last week, included a career-high 22 points and 17 rebounds against Pacific Union. She shot 56.2 percent from the floor in the game against the Pioneers, and went 4-for-5 from the charity stripe.

Mary Martin led the Red Devils to a big win in their 2014 opener. The first-year scored a game-high 21 points and controlled 13 rebounds for her fourth, double-double of the season. Martin pulled down seven offensive rebounds and added four steals on the afternoon.

Caroline Murphy, Sr, Gettysburg

Murphy averaged 11.5 points per game as Gettysburg finished 1-1 at the Daytona Beach Shootout. In a 55-42 win over Benedictine (Ill.), she scored 16 points and grabbed six rebounds while shooting 5-for-10 from the field and 5-for-5 at the foul line. Murphy finished 7-for-7 at the charity stripe for the week.

Lytle poured in 23 points and collected 10 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season in a loss to Widener. She connected on 11-of-18 shots from the floor and added three assists and two steals.

Katie Lytle led the Garnet to a 2-1 week, including 1-1 in conference play, by averaging 19.0 points, 7.7 rebounds, 3.3 steals and 2.3 assists per game while shooting 63.6 percent from the field. She led the team in scoring, rebounding, steals and field goal percentage and was second on the squad in assists. Lytle started the week by racking up 20 points, eight rebounds and six steals while shooting 8-for-11 from the field in just 21 minutes of action in an 85-26 rout of Bryn Mawr. She also contributed 19 points, eight rebounds and four steals against Johns Hopkins before concluding the week with 18 points and seven boards in a road win over Dickinson.

Nina Voith, Sr, Haverford,

Voith's career-high 27 points against Muhlenberg helped the Fords upend previously undefeated Muhlenberg on its home floor -- a place where Haverford had registered just one previous win in program history. The senior guard, who just missed a double-double with nine rebounds, moved into third place on the program's all-time scoring list with the sensational effort that included an 11-for-12 performance from the free throw line.

Leanna Tallamy, Jr, Muhlenberg

Tallamy averaged 20.0 points and 8.5 rebounds and made important plays as Muhlenberg opened its CC season with two overtime wins. She contributed to six of the Mules' 10 points in the extra period against Swarthmore with three points and an assist, and her three-point play with 1:04 left in overtime accounted for what proved to be the winning points against Washington.

Katie Lytle, Sr, Swarthmore

Katie Lytle was named the MVP of the 13th Annual Swarthmore Tip-Off Tournament and became the ninth player in program history to score at least 1,000 points in her career after leading the Garnet to a 2-0 start with wins over Kean, 59-42, and Connecticut College by a 58-55 score. Lytle, who registered a double-double in both games, most notably racked up 29 points, 14 rebounds and five steals in the championship battle against Connecticut College. All three marks against the Camels were game highs.
