Marymount Remains in 22nd Place After Round Two

EAST LANSING, Mich. -- The Marymount University women's golf continued its first-ever appearance at the NCAA Division III Championships on Tuesday after the Saints completed the second round of the tournament.

MU maintained its spot on the team leaderboard with a second-round score of 350 (+62). The Saints shaved 12 strokes off of their score from the opening round for a total of 712 (+62). Carnegie Mellon University maintained its lead on the field with a round of 308 (+20) for a two-day total of 620 (+20) Methodist University moved up two spots into second place with a team score of 621 (+45), while George Fox University (628 (+52)) and Centre College (634 (+58)) moved into third and fourth, respectively.

Isabel Trojillo paced MU in the second round with a score of 83 (+11). The junior took five strokes off of her score from the opening round and climbed ten spots on the leaderboard into a tie for 79th. Hunter Gillis finished two strokes off of Trojillo's pace with a card of 85 (+13). Gillis fired three birdies in a row on holes nine, 10, and 11, to post a two-day total of 162 (+13). The sophomore heads into the third round in a five-way tie for 33rd.

Janlynn Ngo finished four strokes better than her first round with a card of 88 (+16). Over two rounds, the junior has a total score of 180 (+36). Peyton Kraras climbed three spots in the standings with a 94 (+22), which bettered her opening round by nine strokes. Gina Carvelli rounded out MU's round with a card of 112 (+40).

Marymount will begin the third round of the NCAA Division III Championships on Wednesday, May 13, at 9:20 a.m.
