Bullets, Diplomats Cruise Into Sweet 16

Top-ranked Gettysburg and fifth-ranked Franklin & Marshall cruised past their opponents in the second round of the NCAA Women's Lacrosse Tournament on Sunday afternoon, sending both teams to next weekend's Sweet 16. 


GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Junior Liza Barr broke the NCAA Tournament record for assists in a game and the school mark for points in a game as top-ranked Gettysburg College women's lacrosse team cruised past Westminster (Pa.) College 24-1 in the second round of the NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Championship Sunday at Clark Field.

Gettysburg will host the regional round set for May 18-19. The Bullets will face Denison University (15-4), which defeated Transylvania University 19-6, in the next round on Saturday, while Washington and Lee University takes on Wesleyan University with a time to be determined.

LANCASTER, Pa. — Jane Cote dished out five assists and scored one goal to lead No. 5 Franklin & Marshall to a 17-3 victory over Springfield (13-7) in the second round of the NCAA Tournament Sunday afternoon at Shadek Stadium. With the five helpers, Cote became the seventh Diplomat to reach 100 career assists. The Diplomats improved to 16-4 and will take on Illinois Wesleyan next Saturday.
