Swarthmore's Magier Named Defensive Player of the Week

November 2, 2015 - Reba Magier, Sr, GK, Swarthmore

Magier did not allow a goal over 156 minutes of action in two victories last week. In Swarthmore's conference-clinching win against Haverford on Saturday, the senior made four saves for her seventh shutout of the season. Magier leads the Centennial with 0.21 goals-against average and a .933 save percentage.

October 26, 2015 - Eliza Gray, Sr, GK, Gettysburg

Gray registered a pair of shutouts while breaking or tying three records in a 1-0-1 week for Gettysburg. She made four saves in a scoreless draw versus undefeated McDaniel, then stopped one shot in a 2-0 win at Muhlenberg. With the victory over the Mules, she broke the Centennial Conference record for career shutouts (36) as well as the Gettysburg record for career goalie wins (45) while tying the single-season school record for shutouts (10). She has now posted four consecutive shutouts and has allowed just five goals for the season.

 

October 19, 2015 - Sarah McDonald, Soph, GK, McDaniel

McDonald posted a 0.54 goals-against average, allowing just one goal and making five saves in a double-OT draw with Swarthmore on Saturday.

 

October 12, 2015 - Reba Magier, Sr, GK, Swarthmore

Magier did not allow a goal in Swarthmore's two victories last week. Against Gettysburg, the senior keeper made four saves, including a stop in the 86th minute, to preserve a 1-0 win for the 20th-ranked Garnet. Magier also ranks near the top of Division III in save percentage (.950) and goals against average (0.12).


October 5, 2015 - Gillian Sencindiver, So, D, Gettysburg

Sencindiver played a key role in Gettysburg's 1-0 shutout over 22nd-ranked and previously undefeated Haverford. She was part of a back row that yielded zero shots on goal and just four total shots. It was Gettysburg's seventh shutout in nine matches this season.

September 28, 2015 - Emily Telford-Marx, Sr, D, Swarthmore

Telford-Marx anchored a backline that posted two shutouts last week and limited its opponents to five total shots with three coming on goal. Against Dickinson, which averaged 18 shots per game entering Saturday's contest, Telford-Marx paced the Garnet defense, which allowed one shot in the second half. Swarthmore is the only NCAA Division III woman's soccer team that has not conceded a goal during the 2015 season.

 

 

September 21, 2015 - Courtney Sullivan, Jr, GK, Ursinus

Sullivan made nine saves in a 1-0 win over Gettysburg, including a point-blank save off of a header and a diving save to keep Ursinus in the game.

 

September 14, 2015 - Charlotte Armour, Sr, GK, Dickinson

Armour went 2-0-1 in the nets last week, recording a pair of shutouts over the weekend. She made 18 saves for the week, turning away 12 shots to secure a 0-0 tie with unbeaten Penn State Berks on Sunday. She added a 3-0 clean slate against Eastern on Saturday.

 

September 8, 2015 - Eliza Gray, Sr, GK, Gettysburg

Gray recorded her school-record 27th career shutout in impressive fashion, making six saves in Gettysburg's 0-0 season-opening tie at ninth-ranked College of New Jersey. For the week, she did not allow a goal over three matches and 288 minutes. Gray made one save over 68 minutes in a 5-0 win over Hiram, then stopped four shots in a scoreless draw versus Scranton.
