LANCASTER, Pa. -- McDaniel's Hannah Schepers and Sandy Lagana Bly and Johns Hopkins' Katie Sullivan took home major awards to headline the 2021 All-Centennial Conference Women's Soccer Team.
Schepers, who helped lead the Green Terror to their first-ever CC Tournament title with a 5-4 triumph in penalty kicks over Franklin & Marshall last Sunday, was selected as Player of the Year. It marks just the second time that a McDaniel player has received the conference's top honor, as Schepers joins Beth Blasi (1999) in that prestigious club. The senior forward was also one of just four players to claim all-conference laurels for the third time.
Sullivan earned Rookie of the Year honors after a stellar opening campaign for Hopkins. She becomes the fourth Blue Jays to claim the top newcomer award, and third in the last four seasons. Sullivan was also named to the All-CC first team, marking the 30th time in CC history that a freshman received first team accolades.
Lagana Bly was named Coach of the Year for the fourth time in the 13-year history of the award after guiding the Green Terror to a 16-1 regular season record, a 9-1 CC mark and the program's first-ever CC championship. Lagana Bly's four Coach of the Year honors ranks second all-time, one shy of former Hopkins coach Leo Weil.
Johns Hopkins led the way with six all-stars, followed by McDaniel (5), Franklin & Marshall (5), Gettysburg (5), Swarthmore (4), Haverford (3), Dickinson (3), Bryn Mawr (1), and Washington College (1).
A total of 12 players received All-CC awards for at least the second time in their careers. Earning all-conference honors for the third time were Schepers and Maddie Schwartz from McDaniel, Gettysburg's Erika Muskus, and Bryn Mawr's Elizabeth Hummel. Now two-time honorees include Dickinson's Meg Tate and Sarah Hughes, JHU's Rachel Jackson, Gettysburg's Molly O'Shea and Kelly Gaudian, and Emma Bedell, Haverford's Celia Page, and Washington College's Rachel Chatfield.
Johns Hopkins has 70 all-time first-team selections - the highest total in the conference. Gettysburg (52) is second, while Muhlenberg (34) and Swarthmore (34) are tied for third, followed by Dickinson (30), Haverford (26), McDaniel (26), Franklin & Marshall (20), Ursinus (6) and Bryn Mawr (4).
