INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The Johns Hopkins women's soccer team earned an automatic bid to the 2022 NCAA Tournament and will take on Lesley in a first round match on Saturday in Hartford, Conn. Hostt Trinity will take on SUNY Geneseo in the other first round matchup on Saturday afternoon.

Saturday's matchup will bring the first-ever matchup between the Blue Jays and the Lynx. Johns Hopkins have also never played against Trinity or SUNY Genesco in program history.

This will be the 20th NCAA Tournament appearance for the Johns Hopkins Blue Jays. The Blue Jays last missed the NCAA Tournament in 2004. Hopkins holds an all-time record of 31-18-3 in NCAA Tournament contests and a record of 8-5-2 in neutral site contests.

Johns Hopkins (17-0-2) received an automatic bid into the tournament after winning in the Centennial Conference championship against Dickinson 4-0. Lesley (12-7-1) defeated New England College in the NECC championship to earn an automatic bid into the tourney.

Trinity (14-1-2) received an at-large bid into the field after falling 3-0 to Wesleyan in the NESCAC championship. SUNY Geneseo (11-4-3) earned an auto bid into the field after defeating SUNY Cortland on penalties in the SUNYAC Championship.

Forty-four conferences were awarded automatic qualification for the 2022 championship, with 19 at-large bids coming from Pool C and one from Pool B. Sixteen four-team sites will conduct first- and second-round play on the first weekend of the championship, November 11 and 12 or 12 and 13. Second-round winners will advance to one of four sectional sites November 18 and 19 or 19 and 20. All games, except the semifinals and final, will be played on the campuses of competing institutions.

Winners of the four sectionals will advance to the semifinals December 2 and 4, at Kerr Stadium in Salem, Virginia, with Roanoke College and Old Dominion Athletic Conference serving as hosts. If a Sunday no-play institution advances to the final site, the semis and finals will be held on December 1 and 3.
