• The Short Story: The 14th-ranked Johns Hopkins women's tennis team's NCAA Tournament run came to end Sunday with a tough 5-0 loss to sixth-ranked Amherst in the Sweet 16.
 
How it Happened 
 The Mammoths jumped out to a 3-0 lead after doubles with the sweep. Kelsey Chan and Jackie Buzkin beat sophomore Anjie Kashyap and junior Sophia Strickland, 8-2, at first doubles.
• Camille Smukler and Anya Ivenitsky also won 8-2 at second over sophomore Dhanya Asokumar and senior Kimberly Zou. It was just the second loss of the season for the Blue Jay pair. Maddie Dewire and Anya Ramras won by the same score over freshman Evelyn Chang and senior Katie Gauch at third.
• Smukler pushed Amherst's lead to 4-0 when she defeated Strickland 6-0, 6-3 at second singles. Claire Evans then clinched the win and a spot in the quarterfinals with a hard-fought 6-4, 6-4 win over Asokumar at fifth.
 
What it Means
• Hopkins falls to 0-3 all-time against Amherst, with the last two meetings coming in the NCAA Tournament. The Blue Jays end the season at 19-4, matching their win total from two years ago. The four losses are the fewest since the 2014 squad went 24-3.
• The Blue Jay seniors finish their career with a record of 70-24 (.744), including a 40-0 mark in the Centennial Conference, four conference titles and four NCAA Tournament appearances.
• Zou finishes her career with 46 singles wins (46-17) and 54 doubles wins (54-29), which rank 10th and sixth in program history, respectively. In addition, her 100 combined wins are the sixth most in school history.
• Gauch finishes with 31 singles wins (31-15) and 38 doubles wins (38-14). She is tied for 18th in career doubles wins and tied for 22nd with 69 combined wins.
• Senior Chrissy Simon finishes with 44 singles wins (44-13) and 24 doubles wins (24-5). She is tied for 11th in program history in singles wins and tied for 24th with 68 combined wins. Senior Mika Inadomi closes her career with a 7-4 singles record and a 9-3 doubles mark.
