INDIANAPOLIS, IN – A quartet of Centennial Conference women's tennis players have been selected to compete in the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships in Orlando, Fla. later this month. Johns Hopkins' Anjali Devireddy and Haverford's Abbey Russano earned spots in the singles field, while Swarthmore's Nathalie Williams and Crystal Xu will compete in doubles.

For the individual championships, the national committee selected a percentage of singles players and doubles teams from each of the eight regions. The individual championships consist of 32 singles players and 16 doubles teams. The selection of teams and individuals for the championships is based on won-lost record, strength of schedule and eligibility and availability of student-athletes.

The team championship will take place May 23-25, while the individual championships will be May 27-29, both at USTA National Campus, Orlando, FL; hosted by the United States Tennis Association, Oglethorpe University, and the Greater Orlando Sports Commission.

This is Devireddy's first selection to the individual championships. Hopkins has now had 10 players selected to the NCAA Singles Championship since 2010. A Blue Jay has made the singles championship in each of the last three seasons and five of the last six. Devireddy is 10-8 in singles and is ranked 17th in the Atlantic South. For her career, she has 17 singles wins and 39 combined wins. Devireddy is 2-3 against regionally ranked opponents this season.

Russano is the first Haverford player to earn individual qualification to the national tournament since Amanda Figland in 1988. Russano earns qualification after a 10-6 record during the dual match season, including a 6-2 mark in Centennial Conference play. Moving into the top flight, Russano made her mark with a 6-1 record at No. 1 singles this season. In the Centennial Conference semifinals on Saturday, the Bridgewater, N.J. product added a big regionally-ranked win over Jenny Lewis of Swarthmore, rallying in three (0-6, 6-1, 6-2) after dropping the first set.

Williams and Xu had an impressive 11-1 record this season, including a perfect 6-0 in conference action for the 2022 campaign. Against regionally ranked opponents, Xu and Williams were 1-0. That 8-5 victory over the second ranked doubles team in the region propelled the Garnet to a 5-4 victory over nationally ranked No. 14 Mary Washington on April 9th. The pair were ranked number three in the ITA Atlantic South Region for the final three weeks of the season.
