Cortazzo once again set the program record in the pole vault event at the Keogh Invitational this weekend. Cortazzo won the event with a mark of 3.45m. She now holds at least a share of the top three marks in program history, all which have been set this year. The mark is also the best Centennial Conference this season.

Women’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week 2/12/18
Maya Hammonds, Jr, Johns Hopkins
New Hartford, N.Y./New Hartford Senior

Hammonds won the Pentathlon at the Sweetheart Multi-Mix on Thursday with 3,286 total points. The point total is currently 9th in the nation and is the fourth highest point total in Centennial Conference history. The junior also set a new school and conference record in the long jump with a mark of 5.76 and set a new personal best time in the 800m as she clocked in with a time of 2:32.50. 

 

Women’s Field Athlete of the Week 2/5/18

Claire Conley, So, Swarthmore College
New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan

Claire Conley has the top mark in the Centennial Conference in the shot put this year with a throw of 12.87m at the Frank Colden Invitational.

 

Women’s Field Athlete of the Week 1/29/18

Maya Hammonds, Jr, Johns Hopkins
New Hartford, N.Y./New Hartford Senior

Hammonds won the Pentathlon event at the Patriot Games with a total of 3,127. That point total is the highest in the conference this season and ranks 17th in the nation. Hammonds won the high jump with a mark of 1.55m, finished second in the long jump with a mark of 5.51m and earned a third-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.30.

 

Women’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week 1/22/18

Claire Sargent, Sr, Haverford
Bronxville, N.Y./Bronxville

Senior Claire Sargent placed second in the shot put at Ursinus' Collegeville Classic with her best mark measuring 11.92 meters (39-1.25). The school record holder in this event and defending outdoor conference champion has also won this event in two other meets this season.

 

Women’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week 1/15/18

Maya Hammonds, Jr, Multi., Johns Hopkins
New Hartford, NY / New Hartford Senior
Hammonds earned two top-ten finishes in the Great Dane Invitational this Saturday. She finished sixth in the 60m-hurdles with a time of 9.41 and earned a seventh-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 5.57m, which is a career best. 

 

 

 

WOMEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK 12/11/17

Taylor Murphy, Jr, Haverford College
Bedminster, N.J. / Bernards

Taylor Murphy won the 60 meter hurdles at the Haverford Holiday Invitational with a time of 9.30. She also won her section of the 200 meters, placing second overall in that event, along with a being a part of the second place 4x200 meter relay.

 

WOMEN'S FIELD Co-ATHLETES OF THE WEEK 12/4/17

Claire Sargent, Sr, Haverford
Bronxville, N.Y./Bronxville

Senior Claire Sargent tied Haverford's indoor record in the shot put with her throw of 41 feet, five inches (12.62m) to match the mark set by Jackie Freund '10. Sargent's best toss was 1.21 meters and nearly four feet clear of her closest competitor from Norfolk State on Saturday afternoon. Already the school record holder in the shot put during the outdoor season, today's mark was a two and three-quarter inch improvement from her best throw last season. She was the 2016 Centennial Conference indoor champion in shot put, also winning the 2017 outdoor title.

Hammonds won the long jump event at the Diplomat Open with a new personal best mark of 5.51m. The mark also set a new JHU record, as she bested the previous mark of 5.47m.
