Clawson, Price Earn All-America Honors

The Basics

• The Short Story: The Johns Hopkins women's track & field team concluded its 2018 season with strong performances at the 2018 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. 

How it Happened
• Junior Ellie Clawson earned an eighth-place finish and another All-American award in the 5k with a time of 17:25.01 while Rebecca Grusby finished in 15th with a mark of 18:04.03. Felicia Koerner finished right behind Grusby in 16th with a time of 18:07.68. The athletes ran in extreme heat with temperatures in the high 90s. 
• In the 1,500-meter run freshman Therese Olshanski finished 12th with a time of 4:37.88. 


LA CROSSE, Wis.—Swarthmore College Women's Track & Field sophomore Lilly Price earned All-American honors on Saturday by finishing eighth overall at the 2018 Outdoor NCAA Championship in the 1,500-meter run.

Price, who completed the race in 4:33.98, becomes the 12th female track & field student-athlete to earn All-American status in program history. After the first split, Price sat in 10th place with a time of 54.361. By the third split, Price had move up to seventh with a time of 3:21.958. She ran a final lap of 1:12.013 to close out the race.

The competition took place in the heat of the 90 degree day with the race starting at 12:35 p.m. local time.

The top eight runners in the 12-member race receive All-American honors. Price fought to claim a spot in the top eight and finished 0.26 seconds in front of the ninth-place runner.

Ohio Northern's Emily Richards won the championship with a time of 4:25.08.
