WESTMINSTER, Md. – Jenn Feldmann has been named McDaniel College's head volleyball coach, announced by Director of Athletics Paul Moyer on Tuesday.
"As we conducted this search, we quickly identified Jenn as one of our top candidates," Moyer said. "After her visit, she clearly demonstrated that she was someone we knew could be successful as our next head coach. It is clear she has a highly advanced knowledge of the game, knows this region well and loves the NCAA Division III model of athletics. In addition, having coached in the Centennial, with a strong track record of success, she knows what it takes to get the job done. She is a perfect fit for us. I am confident that she will continue to build on the success we have had in volleyball at McDaniel and be able to take our program to the next level."
Feldmann takes over as just the fifth head coach in the storied history of Green Terror volleyball, assuming the reins after Jessica Wolverton stepped down to become the department's Assistant Director of Athletics in May.
Feldmann spent the last nine seasons on staff at Centennial Conference (CC)-rival Johns Hopkins.
"I would like to thank Paul Moyer and the entire search committee for this wonderful opportunity," Feldmann said. "After visiting McDaniel, I knew that it was a place I could call home. The volleyball program holds enormous potential to continue to build upon the success that Jess has already established. Furthermore, McDaniel's ambitions to develop wholesome students in an intimate community very much aligns with my values. I am excited to compete in a tough conference and help grow the culture of the program moving forward."
After eight seasons as an assistant on the Blue Jays staff, Feldmann was tabbed as interim head coach last season and guided Johns Hopkins to the Centennial Conference title. The Blue Jays posted a record of 184-77 during her tenure on staff, including a 22-8 record last season. The squad made the CC tournament each of her seasons on staff and claimed six conference titles.
During the Blue Jays historic season in 2017, Johns Hopkins not only earned its first-ever national ranking but the team also set new program record for consecutive wins with 18. The Blue Jays advanced the regional championship match for the first time in program history. For her work in that run, Feldmann was named the AVCA Assistant Coach of the Year.
An active member of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), she served on the Top 25 Poll committee last season. While at Hopkins, she served as an administrative coordinator in development and alumni relations.
She also co-founded the Strive Volleyball Coach with her husband in 2017, serving as technical coach and treasurer for the juniors volleyball club that has five teams.
Feldmann attended nearby Centennial High School, where she helped the Eagles to two Howard County Championships, three Class 3A Regional Championships and two Class 3A Maryland State Championships. She was also a three-time Howard County Times, Baltimore Sun and Washington Post All-Howard County selection.
She went to Homewood after a stellar playing career at St. Mary's College of Maryland. In only two years with the Seahawks, Feldmann finished third in program history in assists and sixth in service aces. She helped the team to a 57-14 record and two Capital Athletic Conference finals appearances.
She graduated cum laude from St. Mary's in 2010 with a bachelor's degree in English.
In addition to her duties with volleyball, Feldmann will also serve as a lecturer in the College's kinesiology department.
She officially assumes her duties on July 23.
